Those Lakers rumors were Bird's death sentence. He knows PG is gone and he would have to accept 25 cents on the dollar for him in any trade. Even if he doesn't end up with the Lakers, he wasn't staying in Indiana.

They didn't meet the criteria. Hard to live up to Laker Legends, especially for some of these guys who are stars today thinking they got the accolades to match up to all time greats.

The main thing I was getting at with that pic, was Nash/Howard, Gasol had been there awhile.
Howard was traded, but he had to ok the trade to the Lakes, iirc, and that year people already chalked up a Heat/Lakers finals before the season even started.
