Social Obama faces backlash for film's 'Warning' about White People

I mean who cares? Are we not allowed to have to black racist characters in a movie? Can only white people be racist? I remember that movie with Samuel Jackson being racist against the white guy cause he married a black girl. Were people freaking out then?

Lakeshore Drive was soooooo dope

Yea I would have to know the context of the line and the character before forming an opinion.

For example was it treated as "that's the truth and we need to learn it" or was it treated as " you need to wise up and learn to judge people on their action as individuals".

"trust should not be doled out easily, to anyone, especially white people"

this is "looking way to deep"?

Yes it's a movie. I also saw a movie where Samuel L Jackson terrorized a mixed couple because the black women married a white guy. Maybe we need to look into that movie as well.

Lets also look into 12 years a slave. What was Leo really saying in Django? Maybe we need to look into him as well.

Do you want to me start listing all the old school hood movies that were saying racist things about white people also cause I can guarantee you this isn't the first one. I have no idea why a black women saying something racist is now considered some sort of agenda. Where were you when Samuel Jackson was saying it? Oh you didn't give a shit because some loser on the internet didn't make an article complaining about it.

Did you actually watch the movie to get the context or just the clickbait quote?

I mean I could take a quick clip from American History X, present it in a way that suits my narrative and paint the movie in that fashion..on whatever side I choose...

I expect better from the right otherwise we get more drooling imbeciles and give the left more ammo...

Be better...

no i haven't seen it, but the greater context is that anti-white sentinment is the norm now in the industry and also two political woke assholes produced it, so until we have better "context", it's just more anti-white hate.

I literally watched it from a middle aged white AD military moderate Right wing conservative POV...because that's what I am...and I'm trying to educate...

...but you're trying to question context without actual evidence, on your preconceived notions and a tweet,/ticktock/short...

You are no better than the Leftists

...this is how we get the folks in charge....

My God we are doomed

Be better

Obviously if a republican produced a movie and "consulted" on the script with a main character saying "never trust the blacks", he'd be called a white supremacist. Hell, they're already asked to condemn complete strangers a dozen times each.

Their "production company" and deal with netflix is just laundering money for paid back favors and influence. Charles Rivkin was in the Obama administration and was named the CEO of the Motion Picture Association a few moths after he left office, and the Obamas land a huge Netflix deal for doing nothing right before Netflix teamed up with the motion picture association for lobbying efforts. It's just billionaires and politicians moving money around in a circle.

use race to divide the lower class so they don't unite and rise up against the owners of the means of production

Former President Barack Obama is facing backlash on Monday over a film on which he was a consultant, which "warns" about white people.

After concluding his presidency in 2017, Obama has written a bestselling memoir and signed a deal with Netflix to produce films and television series. The former president has also created Higher Ground, a production company co-led by his wife, former first lady Michelle Obama, in which projects were set to touch on issues of race and class, democracy and civil rights.

The company's first production, American Factory, debuted in 2019 and centered on an abandoned General Motors plant that was reopened in Ohio by a Chinese billionaire. The film took home an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.

More recently, Obama served as a consultant on Sam Esmail's latest film, Leave the World Behind, based on Rumaan Alam's novel of the same name.

The scene in question shows a Black couple lying in bed as the lines, "I'm asking you to remember that if the world falls apart, trust should not be doled out easily to anyone, especially white people."

Obama was a producer that gave notes for the film.

Has anyone here watched it? Does anyone have plans to watch it?

I saw Leave the World Behind.
They’re not a black couple. That’s a father with his daughter.

So some people here has an opinion about a movie they have not seen and dont know the context of the things said? Yet seem upset and offended.
Am I getting it right?

" you need to wise up and learn to judge people on their action as individuals".

No.

That's the conservative propaganda designed to obfuscate systemic racism.

Of course individual responsibility and accountability are critical, but your position suggests they're all that matters. They obviously aren't.

Not that long ago it came out that the hiring algorithm used by all major firms in America was built using historical data and was fundamentally racist, screening out the vast majority of black applicants. No amount or responsibility could have circumvented that obstacle.

This is why the right fears universities, conservative dogma only works if you're stupid.

You’re not suppose to like the black girl. She’s a caricature of a far left progressive cunt, just like the white mother is a caricature of a “Karen”. You’re suppose to think they’re both cunts.
