Not the best analysis by Zahabi as he tends to be all over the place. At least (about 28:15 in) he has the sense to think fighting Nurmy from guard (Robin Black's current theme) is a bad idea and used as a last resort.

People often cite that Ferg was able to stop barboza, while khabib couldn't...but, barboza and ferg went back and forth in a war...ferg in no way dominated barboza...while khabib totally destroyed barboza...

Apples and Oranges. The only similarity of the two fights was Nurmy and Tony's come forward pressure strategy vs Barboza.

Tony is pretty slick everywhere, but Khabib is so relentless and smothering. I think this ends up with Khabib mauling Tony.

how is it apples and oranges...they both fought the same guy...one had a really tough fight...the other totally destroyed him...of course this doesn't tell you what will happen between ferg and khabib though...I realize that...I tells you a little, but you can't always solely go by that.

I believe Khabib wins , he's is so overwhelming and strong that most fighters mentally break from the first take down , Ferguson is a great fighter no doubt , however Khabib is a completely different breed , the man is a tremendous grappler and his top control is awesome , Tony's chance for a win is either a quick slick submission out of nowhere , or standing , other than that i don't see him winning.

Tony engaged Barboza in the stand-up and looked to break him in that aspect of the game. Once Barboza got tired, he got hit, hurt and looked for a takedown, which Tony capitalized on with a Darce choke. Khabib strategy is always to close distance with strikes and take you down, then break you with ground and pound. You can talk about Barboza's early success, but he fell to Tony's overriding strategy faster than to Khabib. The fact that Tony took more damage is not a big issue since they were going strength vs strength, while Khabib quickly took Barboza out of his game (strength vs weakness, hence apples vs oranges).

sorry barboza was not destroyed. he was smothered.
destroyed would implicate he was finished. he was not
habib by blanket. who has he finished? or destroyed?

khabib doesnt wanted to finnish barboza thats the point. he wanted to go all 3 rouns because of ring rust. his coach explained everything. i dont understad why people make a issue out of that.

There's something about Tony Ferguson that gives me hope he can pull off an upset over Khabib.
A few factors to consider: -
1) Khabib has never gone 5 rounds. Tony has. If Khabib is smeshing Tony for the first three, Tony may come back in the last two rounds. Tony has impressive cardio.
2) Tony has a never say die attitude. He is known as scrappy. Even if he is thrown around for a round, he wont let it phase him. Remember, Tony seriously dislikes Khabib. Him being booed at the press conference will give him that little extra incentive to rub it into the face of his nay sayers.
3) Tony has been preparing for Khabib for quite some time.
Also, again, Tony really dislikes Khabib and can't wait to get in there with him. Khabib may have a bit of a shock since he hasn't fought anyone yet with that much animosity towards him. At least I can't remember anyone.

Tony is tough as fuck and is on an incredible run right now.

But Khabib will get the TD and although Tonys got a great submission game I dont think its enough to threaten Khabib. I think he needs to rock the shit outta Khabib to land a sub. I dont think he gets a clean sub on Khabib without making him dizzy first...

Zahabi's camp looked invincible before USADA.

Khabib struggled and arguably lost to Tibau and Tony easily finished him.

MMA math means little to nothing.

I watched tibau fight fairly recently...while khabib had trouble getting tibau down, he was the aggressor throughout and landed more shots...so he did win that fight.

But Tony easily finished him in under 3 minutes. It's a similar comparison to the Barboza vs Ferg and Barboza vs Khabib fights.
