That leg kick that landed kinda got cyborg in "Im going to get payback" mode and she just plodded in throwing haymakers and got caught on the inside with a short punch right on the button.
lol yeah I think part of the problem was that Cyborg was accustomed to being able to wing away at her opponents without the worry of them coming down the pipe with an overhand right to flatten her with. Her previous competition didn't have that kind of punching prowess, so before Amanda she never had a reason to be more measured and defend herself carefully. Cyborg gets absolutely faceplanted lol.Yeah, there are cases when throwing a different type of punch is the difference between winning and losing in boxing. But it’s never that bad. That’s not the only mistake at play here. And it’s never that simple. There’s usually a much more complicated meta going on between the two fighters in boxing. Here, it wasn’t just that Cyborg had to change the type of punch she was throwing. On top of blindly running in with zero regard for defense, I don’t think Cyborg knows how to do anything other than throw hooks, one after the other as fast as she can. MMA fighters are so bad that her doing this is usually enough to overwhelm them.
You never see that when two fighters are competing for a championship in boxing. Like I’m not familiar with that Badou Jack fight in particular, but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t winging hooks like that from such a bad range.
And a lot of them psyche themselves up and melt against that pressure. They don't know how to keep a level head. Amanda didn't panic like most MMA fighters would when under that kind of fire. That's not to say Cyborg isn't elite by MMA standards. She just never had to learn that lesson by that point. She fought much better against Pacheco. I think if Cyborg takes her time, relies more on her ground game and is more willing to concede certain exchanges to Nunes - she would win the rematch.lol yeah I think part of the problem was that Cyborg was accustomed to being able to wing away at her opponents without the worry of them coming down the pipe with an overhand right to flatten her with.
