Islam has the highest number of title defenses!

Islam defeated Charles "do Bronxs" Oliveira at UFC 280 (10/22/2022) to win the vacant lightweight belt.

Islam Makhachev has defended his title against Alexander Volkanovski (twice), Dustin Poirier and now Moicano....

Today, he also solidified himself as a submission master.
He submitted Moicano, Charles, and Moisés.

Congratulations to the greatest living and active representative of MMA.

He deserves it!

Islam will always live in Khabib's shadow no matter what he does.

Beating Moicano doesn't erase:

his knockout loss
all the lost rounds
times he got dropped
times he got cut
times Khabib beat him up in the gym,
their own coach admitting Khabib is better
Islam admitting Khabib is better

Islam. Is new generation vs old gen and up and comers. He's just now entering in the JBJ era. But he has plans to quit. Meldonium isn't allowed and he can't last.

I disagree with this nonsense, he doesn't need to erase anything.

It's a troll post, but here we go...

Living in someone’s shadow is a narrative imposed by people who fail to appreciate individual achievements.

Islam doesn’t need to erase his losses, rounds he didn’t win, or moments of adversity. Those experiences define his growth, resilience, and championship mentality.

Acknowledging Khabib’s greatness doesn’t diminish Islam’s—it only underscores his humility and respect. Let’s not forget, Islam is the only lightweight with four title defenses, something even Khabib didn’t achieve.

The fact is that he is the only one with 4 belt defenses.

Eat that crow Bro.

Instead of focusing on comparisons, maybe recognize that both fighters can be great in their own right.

Get that non-sense outta here. Greatness is relative, to be great you must be better than the people you are compared to.

If everyone is great, it means no one is great.

There is only one GOAT.

I feel like Islam has more of a claim at LW than Stipe did at HW. Khabib may have been better but he clearly didn't have a long title reign. Islam seems like he has plenty of fights left in him.

Khabib had an aura Islam doesn’t but if he were to string together another 4 or 5 defenses it would be hard not to call him greatest. I think him and Khabib know the score between them.
