Not saying Baszler is a good fighter but...

This.

Back in the old days she was very dangerous. She has arguably beaten McMann - at least it was a very close fight - and she has completely dominated D'Alelio.
And she was nice and respectful, as far I know.

Agreed. Repost below:

During her training camp for her last fight with Alexis Davis she injured her leg pretty badly, particularly her ankle. She fought anyways and it was obvious she wasn't herself in that fight from the beginning. Eventually she tried an ankle lock on Davis, Davis returned it, at the end of round 1 and Baszler limping badly afterward. Eventually Davis started noticing Baszler's limp (Baszler was trying to hide it) and started opening up on Baszler's leg. That set up Davis' win.

From what I've seen of her since of Baszler she's never really recovered from that injury. Every fight she has lost with poor cardio and lack of explosiveness and power. Even her win to get into the TUF 18 house she was protecting her ankle/knee when she was trying to put in a RNC, such that Colleen Schneider escaped briefly.

Baszler's just beaten up and not in top form by any means anymore. Sad to see happen to her. She was one of the top women in MMA at one point. Lots of nice wins.

Why so many threads about her

WMMA moves the needle around here, and she was the most recent WMMA fight.

This.

34 years old with 25 fights since 2003 is no spring chicken.

I know she pals around with Rousey but does she have access to the same training that she does?

True that those are tough opponents but I think it is more to do with how poorly she has looked at times.
She just looks lost in there.

yeah, she's not looking good in defeat. against bethe, she seemed to wilt as soon as things weren't going well--like she expected a gimme win, and when that didn't happen she just sort of gave up. other times she's been straight up dominated.

Sara McMann (Prime)

10 fights and we're already talking about when she "was in her prime"...?

In WMMA, one fight scores for three, like red squares in scrabble.

You are the #1contender of the world with a 4-0 on your card.

but she isn't a good fighter

she's terrible. Belongs in Invicta

It's hard to say, one thing for sure is that she couldn't benefit from it as much even if she did, as Ronda is significantly less shopworn.

I don't watch the women's fights normally but isn't this the chick that was super cocky on TUF and then got her ass handed to her. If it's the chick I'm thinking of, I'm amazed she got one fight in the UFC, let alone multiple fights.

She looked about as good as MacKenzie did vs Chad Mendes.

So even though she was against top competition - she still looked absolutely horrible in the fight

Maybe stick to pro wrestling?

I cant figure out who I disliked the most, Bubba McDaniel or Shayna Baszler?

It's not that she's that much worse than some other fighters, she just has a big mouth and is way to arrogant for someone with her level of skill and achievements.

She's been dominated in all of them. She'd maybe get a win here and there in Invicta or small shows but she is done at the top level. One of the early pioneers indeed but her time is up

I have nothing against her, you gotta take appearances on a reality show like TUF with a grain of salt. However, in her recent fights, it just seems her opponents are too fast and too strong for her. I don't know if it is injuries or if the athleticism of WMMA is going up. She just seems outmatched athletically.

Wasn't she suppose to be the best? Atleast according to her. She has looked horrendous.

I was just trying to help her out. I think Pena could teach her a few things.

Pena couldn't teach her anything, improving cardio possibly but Shayna's (catch) wrestling and submissions are better than Julianna's and their striking is about even.

If Julianna could teach her to not have battle worn knees or a diminishing chin, she'd be a miracle worker. The years have caught up to Shayna and she'll forever be a respected veteran who was just too old and too worn when MMA hit popularity.
