The police shooting of an African-American caregiver, who was lying in the street trying to help an autism patient, was accidental, according to the local police union representing the North Miami officer.
The officer had intended to shoot the patient, whom he thought posed a danger, but accidentally shot the caregiver instead, said John Rivera, the President of the Dade County Police Benevolent Association.
Charles Kinsey, a behavior therapist, was shot Monday by police -- an incident which has sparked outrage. Footage released by Kinsey's attorney showed his client lying on the ground holding both hands in the air, next to a 23-year-old man with autism.

I realize that it's Florida.... but c'mon.

Maybe it's payback.

Murder and attack police nationwide over assumed collective guilt and assume that mentality can't be applied to them.

That's a dangerous assumption.

This behavioral therapist is awesome. Cops have guns drawn and he's still doing his job and trying to take care of his patient

So.... the perpetuation of undue violence should just continue in a neverending feedback loop?

So, certain people should take it with stoic restraint while the rest feel free to pile on?

In the video they don't ever show the shooting- I think they were probably aiming at the autistic kid cause he was going nuts.

Not that it justifies aaccidentally shooting the guy. But the videos I've seen neVer show the actual shooting it just cuts it out. Idk seems weird.

watching racist sherdog posters struggle in these threads to find something wrong with the black guy is like watching trump try to spell LGBTQ.

Even if they thought the truck was a gun, they still shot the black guy.

Most likely the cop was shooting a the mentally handicapped guy with the toy truck. Which somehow he believed was a gun and accidentally hit the other guy.

That makes sense but it doesn't make it any less fucked up and stupid.

Thank god he was a piss poor shot.

And I stand by he should be fired and charged for being that stupid, unless something can be show to justify him making a mistake like that.

And I don't think they can.

They can't and any attempt to do so is deplorable.

" Shit that black guy has his hands raised"

"Must. pull. that. trigger. anyways"

LOL This fucking maniac was told on the radio by a sergeant that the suspect had a toy before he shot the guy with his hands up.

That's straight up attempted murder, and the entire fucking department is trying to cover for him.

Seriously, I don't know how anybody takes PR releases from police unions seriously anymore.

After the shooting, union officials justified Aledda's actions by saying he thought the autistic man with Kinsey had a gun, not a toy truck. But Eugene's interview with FDLE contradicts that claim. (This past Tuesday, the North Miami Police public information officer declined to comment on behalf of the city manager, Spring.)

"I heard the shooter, Officer Aledda, make a statement to the nature of 'Be advised, I have clear shot [of] subject,'" Eugene said, describing the audio of the police radio just before the shooting. "Later on, a sergeant... got on the air and said, 'I have a visual; it is a toy. Is it a toy? QRX.' That means 'Stand by; don't do anything.' Then there is a conversation back and forth. The next transmission was by [another officer saying] 'Shot fired!'"

Eugene's description comes in an hourlong interview that centers on the bizarre aftermath of the case. He doesn't pull punches about the state of the department. Eugene, a veteran City of Miami cop who had been sworn in as chief only six days before the Kinsey shooting, says training was lax and infighting rampant.

Go ahead badge bunnies. Try and spin this shit with a straight face.

the cop said IDK... it's not funny but it's funny.

I understand this is still under investigation.

Like I said it was an accidental shooting as far as the guy that got shot.

All in all it was a real fuck up.

The office that shot should be charged with recklessness discharge and fired.

If you buy the story that the cop was aiming for the kid but shot the therapist by mistake, then why did they cuff the therapist after shooting him? They wouldn't have done that if they thought the kid was the threat.

There's absolutely no way to spin what went down there. It wasn't a mistake. It was malicious.

Savage move by the black guy to protect his patient under literal gunfire, nice work there.
