They're still a tough nut to crack. If China was on board it'd be easy. China just doesn't want a ton of starving refugees crawling over the border.

Yeah. Better to have them starve and die in NK.

NK gets aid by ton, commits horrible human rights violations, threaten to wipe out SK on a daily basis, and Kim Jong-un has a pos haircut he's now forcing on all NK men. Prolonging these tragedies will only end up costing more.

I agree. I can't stand North Korea's bs but taking them out would be costly, in money and lives. Although the US handed their asses to them before China stepped in.

True. Although I rarely feel military intervention is justified, this is one of the times I support it despite the cost. And I hope NK gets help sooner than later.

How many lives are you willing to see lost? It is possible, likely even, that North Korea would engage in the dirtiest war to date. Many suspect they would use chemical and biological weapons.

They've spent decades fortifying positions. This would be like fighting the Japanese in the pacific if the Japanese had 50 years to prep for the attack.

Not to mention Kim strikes me as the kind of chap who would use a nuke if he felt he was going to lose his grip on power. Would probably nuke his own city.

Absolutely.

He is a crazy fuck who has been raised to think he is the descendant of a god, and possibly that he is a god. He has no problem ordering the torture and murder of his own family, let alone the lives of the citizens.

There really is no happy ending for Kim. If he were to be taken captive he would absolutely be tried for crimes against humanity and imprisoned for life or executed. I doubt either of those are acceptable outcomes for someone raised in luxury.

So any engagement is win at any cost or die at any cost. Go all out. Nukes, biological, chemical, terrorism, dirty bombs, none of this is off limits.

North Korean missiles can easily reach Seoul's 10 million people, where thousands of American soldiers are stationed. It can also hit Tokyo's 20 million people, with more thousands of American soldiers there too. A full blown military conflict with North Korea would be a catastrophic disaster.

They in return would be wiped off the face of the map. N.Korean leadership wants nothing to do with the change of the status quo. Throw some missiles in the water, and some saber rattling you've got your monthly N.Korean story.

What if they offer China all or much territory of what was formerly North Korea? If there is war, would South Korea want to take the whole peninsula? They would have to deal with all the backwards civilians, and cost them lots of moola. China on the other hand can probably handle the reconstruction better. They are still pretty backwards themselves so can probably relate much easier. As it is now, the average NK person is most likely more similar to an average Chinese than they are to the ultra modern South Korean. Even if you don't offer up the whole half the peninsula, Manchuria does not have a coastline. You give the Chinese some of the northern coast of NK, they may just be satisfied.
