I am in a way a keeper of old avatars. I run my entire operating system from a tiny old 128GB SSD. However I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 28-30 Terrabytes of hard drives, so I tend to save everything. If I have ever done work on someone's avatar, like if I make them, or if I add Holiday hats to them, or add hot dogs to them, I always save the original.

4K gaming is still a stretch in this day and age depending on the game and your wallet. While you "can" 4K game with something as low as a GTX 1080 you are going to need a beast of a card to run some of the modern ones. Even on a 1080 you are going to have to play old games to get 4K.

Right now is the worst time ever to buy a video card. There are severe shortages and also some of the cryptocurrency miners use them. They are near impossible to get at retail prices. For example, an RTX 3080, which is on the high-ish end of modern cards, retails for $699. However with all that is going on with the market, you are going to pay around $2700 for that card. You can literally go to some sites that build custom computers and get a whole modern gaming system, including that card, for around the same price. In other words, you can pretty much forget about buying a video card right now. And if you can find a deal let us know like right away hahaha.
