Chomsky has pretty much been finished as a public voice, even for the far-left. Partly because his takes just get worse and worse every year.

Trump isn't really dedicated to anything. He has hardly made some sort of an epic change to America's direction. He's just a fat guy who plays golf a lot and talks shit on Twitter, while the bureaucrats figure it out.

I mean, here's one of his lines:

"Why is there a coronavirus crisis? It's a colossal market failure. It goes right back to the essence of markets exacerbated by the savage neoliberal intensification of deep social-economic problems."

It's a whole bunch of nothing. He's trying to address everything to be a result of economic policies, when countries with very different economic policies have been hit equally as hard. Some with terrible economic policies haven't been hit at all. Countries with great healthcare systems have been overwhelmed while countries with terrible systems have shut the virus down.

I'm sure you can make some sort of an argument in that sense but with Chomsky it's basically always the same, they don't agree with my economic policies and that's why all hell will break loose (when it never really does).
