Plenty of steroids.
Plenty of size mismatches.
Plenty of kicks to grounded opponents.

And no one died.

Huh...

Enson Inoue was pretty close, from what I gather.

And it was from strikes which would be perfectly legal right now too.

Well matched size wise with Igor as well.

MMA is weird like that.

People usually die from dehydration from weight cutting and then the ref not stopping the fight fast enough, or taking too much damage in training camp and the ref not stopping soon enough. Professional organizations, while they may have weird incidents like RDA passing out the day before he fought Ferguson, usually have enough supervision and control to prevent deaths from happening. I really think a lot has to do with bad referees

Edit - combination of bad referees, and negligence of some form

Just because no one died doesn't mean no risk involved. We can't be reckless with this & this is coming from Fedor fan who made his career in Pride.

Agreed.
But Pride was active only 10 years. Extended to 25 years, maybe it would have been another story.

You'd be amazed at how much punishment the human body can take before it gives up.

It's pretty damn hard to kill someone with your bare hands and feet. Atleast if there's a ref present to stop the fight.

Because it was staged...

they like to repeat this retarded narrative. it's annoying

So that means there should be no control of steroids, gotcha.

I know that's the real thing you wanna say.

So tell me this, a titleholder about to face a roided up monster should forgo his belt or take roids himself if he wants to evade him?

people break mentally or physically in freakshow fights, it's a knock em out drag em out wars against evenly matched opponents that gets people killed

Steroids don't help you in a fight...they help you in training.

What's your point?

Do you believe any of those things are conducive to making the sport safer or riskier?

No one ever died of steroids alone

Its usually a combination of steroids and other recreational drugs. Also cant stand the myth that steroids cause cancer. Stallone has been on them for half his life and hes still kickin at 71

yeah no one died thankfully . . .

That may be the case with some, but you pack on more muscle than you normally could, leading to not only health issues but issues when it comes to match making and down the stretch.
