No more Mattis soon.

I don’t see how that’s relevant to what I said. When has regime change gone well for us? And if they aren’t there for regime change why are they there?
They're there mostly as a deterrent is my understanding. Keep Assad from dropping sarin on his people again.

I will say. War & Bombing does seem to bring together a certain portion of both the right and the left

So funny watching so many posters who say they despise the likes of Cheney and Bolton fully supporting their doctrine

The illegal invasion of a sovereign country. Just because of politics. Pretty shameful

This is the thread where liberals are now pro-war.

It is sad really. Obama in 2008 ran on bringing the troops home. If there was anything that liberals should find in common with Trump is was) ending the wars. Now their hate for him just overrides any sensibility.

I like Mattis and I understand his side; we lost way too many lives over there and we do not win by walking away. This is one thing that I vehemently disagree with him on. Not one more American son or daughter should die over there.

Kurds (USA allies) are threatening to let 3200 ISIS prisoners go.

The idiot in charge thinks he knows more than the Generals, I guess it was all those deferments that made him so savvy. Early Xmas gift to Vlady. Six thousand troops needed at Mexico border because of fake invasion, two thousand in Syria...no go.

More resignations coming very soon, the wheels are coming off.

The best is how they are vehemently against this but in the same breath talk about Bolton and war. It's as if they are just blind

I to respect Mattis. I even have my doubts that he's really against this pull out. I think he just doesn't like being the last to know these things

Why would he want the US to stay involved in Syria or remain in Afghanistan with only stalemate and more death? It doesn't make sense.
It’s because the Russians, due to their support of Assad, have been promised a port along the Med provided the government remains in power. It is a tremendous threat to NATO to have deep water Russian warships patrolling the Mediterranean, and having the ability to blockade the Suez Canal.

The Kurds aren’t releasing prisoners and I’m pretty sure the American people can appreciate some troops protecting the border instead of being thousands of miles away when isis has been neutralized

Yea. Fuck these presidents! We'd not be in this mess if Obama would have just let Flynn run foreign policy, Right?

Yeah yeah, the border is such a threat.
Trump shutting down the Government is shutting down Homeland Security Department to protect the border. (doesn't seem like he's too worried)

Its all a bunch of bullshit just like Mexico is going to pay.

In the end Mattie is still a cog in the MIC. I am sure the hero’s of WW2 were in a similar position when the war was over; WTF do we do now? They didn’t know anything besides war and they couldn’t see a world without a MIC.

War has become “too big to fail”. It is the exact racket that now, ironically, Marine Corps General Smedley Butler warned of.

Ah, Obama's fault huh?

This con man Trump isn't qualified to run a fucking charity organization, never mind a country. He is failing miserably !!!

He finally stood up to the establishment trying to pick a fight in Syria and start new wars and cause more death.

This is a proud moment!!!!

Lol. Guess that went right over your head

Mattis is old school like my dad.

He is of the belief when you start a job you best finish it as best you can. The problem we have in Iraq with the rise of ISIS and their ilk? Is cause we left and left a power vacuum when we left. Mattis doesn't want that in Afghanistan or Syria cause he's seen it happen in Iraq, Southeast Asia, Bosnia, and the Horn of Africa. And he sees us making the same, fucking, mistake, AGAIN!

If so, resignation is his worst possible move. It creates a vacuum that will be filled.
