Social No Kings national protest 10/18 - the end of Trump and MAGA?

Ballantyne is a great area. We lived there for almost 10 years. Where’d you move to?
Kitty Hawk. My family from way back on my mother's side is from that area and my aunt and uncle and cousins moved to the area in the 90's after living in Virginia and Cali.

Edit- We were talking about candy yesterday. Sour Patch Kids, bruh.

I’m talking about the diehards, not like, swing voters who just happened to go for Trump in 2024. The voters that actually truly support Trump and his agenda, and like what he’s doing in America right now are never coming over to my side. I’m not interested in trying to persuade them either.
It's a two-way street, buddy.

Expected to be the largest protest in American history, if not world history.

Anyone else going to be attending? Bernie and George Conway got me fucking hyped A F.

Plus Chris Murphy with a beard now? Murphy 2028, let’s gooooooo!!!

I drove past 2 of them today and they had a few near one of my businesses over the summer.

It's actually funny to see the types of people that participate in them and I'm not being mean:

45% are ugly people under the age of 25.
45% are age 65+ who are unsuccessful
10% randoms

I actually go out to have discussions with them and explain that they are the left leaning equivalent of the MAGA loons with the F-Joe Biden flags and they have a hard time wrapping their brains around that.

Love the Outer Banks. Good for you my man. And that family connection is nice. I’m sure it makes you appreciate it more.

If we talked about candy yesterday you’ll have to remind me. My woman must have spiked my beer.

Nerds ropes and clusters. Basically a gummy with Nerds stuck to it. I also dig Trolli sour worms. During the week I don't drink/smoke so I have to have a vice. Candy and top-shelf ice cream is that vice. In ice cream I like ones with brownies or cookie dough. Half-Baked is one. CHEERS, man. All good forgetting random shit posted here.

Democrats and the left love lifelong politicians.

Fucking Mitch... Whether you like him or hate him, he was a force to be reckoned with for a long time

Dude needs to step aside though, he fell again the other day.

Some of these guys just can't retire and seem to want to die while still in office.

Dude I have no recollection of this whatsoever lmao. But I love that shit. Nerds clusters? 😋

And on topic, there's a reason you eat sweets while forgoing alcohol, which is sugar-based. I've tried that too and it helps stave off the craving. Hope you enjoy this weather the next few weeks before it gets cold.

well by what you posted it looks like it's addressed to everybody that voted for him.
there's no qualifier posted.
fuck all his voters but not x, or y or z? that's so ambiguous might as well not exist.
That’s a fair criticism, it probably would’ve been more accurate to say “fuck his supporters” or something but I’m fine with what I posted also, because anyone that voted for him has caused some very awful things to happen to this country and to a lot of innocent people. Those who realize that and have buyer’s remorse are welcome to join my side AFAIC, even if the only thing that binds us for now is agreement that MAGA politics have no place in this country.

But people who don’t have buyer’s remorse aren’t persuadable, because they are voting for and supporting the things that they do for emotional reasons and to try and consolidate power for people like themselves at the expense of everyone else.

Trying to persuade them that we have the better ideas, better plans, better vision for the country, and that sort of thing? Those people don’t care about that. We’ve had better ideas and better plans for years and years, the data is there for anyone who wants to see it. Having discourse and dying to persuade so that others will vote alongside me are functions of democracy and these people loathe democracy. It’s a waste of time and breath.

Are we going to have a civil war in the near future ? If you don't win them over you gotta subjugate them . And if they feel the same way you do at some point someone isn't going to want to be subjugated.

I think we are already in what I call a “Cold Civil War.” Not actual fighting, but Trump has normalized things like trying to cripple the economies of states that didn’t vote for him, for example.

—“Oh, my ICE raids are hurting economies? Ok, I’ll focus them on blue states and cities and fuck up their economies.”
—“Oh, you won’t sign on to me fucking millions of Americans out of healthcare? Then I don’t care that Congress has allocated money for a transit project to create jobs and bring in tourism to your cities, I won’t let you have it. Fuck your people, fuck your jobs, fuck your cities.”
This is what Donald Trump, a man with the title President of the United States, is doing right now. We’re already in a cold civil war.

I’m not really sure how it’s possible to (quote unquote) “Put America First” when one is actively trying to hurt economies of almost a third of the states in the country—but America First and Make America Great Again aren’t actual beliefs or political ideas anyhow, they are identity markers. That’s all they are.

The last thing I want is civil war. Now, an amicable national divorce? If it could be done I don’t think I’d push back much on it, because I don’t want to subjugate anyone nor am I interested in trying to persuade those people. And if such a situation meant I needed to move to a different state, I’m happy to do so.

It’s their right to protest. It’s a little silly of a concept/name and definitely funded and not organic but such is life.
What do you mean by not organic? It’s put together by groups that typically organizes liberal action, whether it be protests, petitions, support for candidates, etc. I sign a lot of petitions, and so one of my email addresses gets stuff from groups like that. I see lots of posts on the Dawg about how people are paid to go to this, etc., etc., but I’ve seen no indication of that.

It's crazy at how addicted they are to making speeches, insider trading, and sitting in boring ass hearings everyday. This whole shutdown is due to Chuck Schumer, a decrepit old mummy who has been in congress for 50 fucking years, being terrified of looking weak and losing his spot. It's like, how 'bout you step aside for some new blood if you no longer have the ear of the current generation? Just go chill at your beach house for the rest of your days.

David Hogg of all people shed some light on this dynamic when he was trying to push some of these lifers out before they all ganged up on him for daring to cross them, and he basically said that these guys think that their life is over and has no purpose once they're gone. To which he appropriately responded: "Well, too fucking bad. This is a little bigger than you."

It's not that alcohol is sugar-based, it's that the liver converts alcohol into sugar. The result is the same. Luckily my bloodwork (liver enzymes and shit) is all good at 52 and I've been partaking of various shit for over 30 yrs. Good genes and I drink lots of water.
