Media Nick Diaz was in Special-Ed classes

I like the dude regardless... also anyone that can learn BJJ to that level can't be all that stupid.

Nevermind... I take it back.

So was i lul, we all called it the "retard class" funny thing was, it was a blend of really smart people, complete morons, and drug dealers. Was drug dealers causing problems, goth kids who didn't belong anywhere, and a few awkward kids who struggled to adapt socially but were insanely smart.

I kind of think Special Ed's a scam. I know that there are people who are slow learners or delayed in some ways (I think everyone is in different ways), but seems that schools would try to get as much people to special ed just to get more funding. Russell Peters the comedian says he was in special ed. Maybe he sucked at math as did Nick, but they both became successful in their fields.
It's funny you base societal opinions on a stand-up comedian's written routine. You are for sure sped material

never do meth and then agree to do filmed interviews for the greedy owner of the rehab center you just stayed at

Yeah ^ this.

We called em special ed classes but they weren't.

It was actually called "the ace program"

It was just "troublemakers"
Exactly. For my district is was 3 different types of kids. Kids in which English was their 2nd language, those that were behind due to truancy, and those with slight to moderate learning difficulties.

Class sizes were smaller and they essentially only taught you what was going to be on the state test which made it significantly easier.

The state test you had to take/pass at the end of 11th grade was only material taught in 9th and 10th grade so these kids in remedial classes essentially had 3 full years to learn 2 years of really basic material.

I'm 90% sure that's what Nick is referring too.

Autistic people can be really smart but struggle with social skills and anxiety in such environments.
While I agree I dont think he was autistic. Just simply young, without support and too bored with his limited reality growing up in a small town surrounded by mostly stupid fucks who couldnt grasp him.

One of the guys I grew up with who had the hardest time in school out of all of us, who we thought was missing a few cards from a full deck is very successful as an adult too.

That guy can fix literally anything and makes a killing as the go to guy on mine sites to fix millions of dollars worth of machinery. He also has a photographic memory and makes 250k+ a year yet was in slow classes since elementary school. He also owns some income properties and is well invested which is crazy because I literally thought he was retarded growing up. Our parents all told us to be nice to him
Good for him! It can go right the other path easily. I saw it firsthand. Another friend of mine is not that smart but atleast was tested at 138 when he was 20 and he's an overweigth, ragy bum with fragile ego.

You really need some good support systems or have a unique drive growing up as an oulier.

Glad he's killing it.

Back in the 80's and well into the 90's anyone that didn't conform and fit in with everyone else got put in special ed classes. We were just beginning to understand things like personality disorders, learning disabilities etc.

Having met some kids who was put in Special Ed, that doesnt automatically mean they are stupid, they just have trouble learning in a school enviornment.

Exact

I’m shocked. Always thought the Diaz brothers seemed academically inclined. Definitely could have been scholars if they didn’t choose MMA.

Sure but have any other kids from special ed gogoplata'd Gomi , stoned, in front of 12,000 people ?

Finally listened to this.

Ended with a joke about starting a gym called Relapse.
<{1-8}>
Terrible sign.

I think the important part to note is that Nick is talking better than he ever has.

Going from fairly hard to understand to understandable isn't easy.

I've not been a fan of his, though it's definitely cool to see his progress.
