Nick Diaz vs Luke Rockhold could be an all time classic.

Anybody else think this could be a damn good fight?

Nick Diaz has the boxing/cardio to give him trouble.....and noat importantly he has the bjj to hold his own against Rockhold.

Rockhold bjj ia really good but Im not sure if ita good enough against diaz.

Also Rockhold doesn't seem that menrally strong, I think diaz can get to him.

Rockhold only real shot would be cahe leaning and kicks at a distance.
 
Luke would batter Nick. Hes way bigger and the Diazs dont handle kicks well. He also has deadly counters with his boxing especially that fadeaway counter right hook and he can definitely beat Nick up in the clinch and get him down. He has great footwork too and he could easily implement the back-foot counter game Thomson did to starch Nate. Nick has great BJJ but Lukes top game would destroy him, its not pure BJJ and Luke has vicious GNP and transitions. Hes better in scrambles than Nick as well, stronger and far more athletic.

I think Rockhold would get him down and destroy nick. Look at what he did to Machida.
 
I'd like to see it, but I think you'd have a hard time finding a worse matchup for Nick Diaz at 170/185 than Luke Rockhold. Rockhold is enormous, so there'd be a huge size disparity which could be used to bully Diaz in the clinch with knees, get takedowns, and completely stifle Diaz on the ground. Relative to Diaz's strengths, Rockhold cancels most of them out- cardio(unless we believe the Weidman performance wasn't due to something else), boxing(Rockhold's length would make it hard for Diaz to pepper him and break him down. Rockhold might even be able to TKO him with kicks), and BJJ (we've seen nothing to indicate anybody can do anything to Rockhold once he's on top)

I think Rockhold could batter him any way he wants.

It would not end well for Diaz.

Nop, Nick would get absolutely murdered in every way imaginable.
 
Yeah, Nick is a WW and Rockhold is a huge MW, it's a mismatch.

When you have two elite guys that are great everywhere, strength and size are really important.

I see Luke absolutely dominating Nick on the mat using his size. Brock was able to negate a sensational BJJ black belt in Mir purely using brute strength and a basing understanding of BJJ. Rockhold was able to bully Weidman in the same fashion and I see Nick suffering a similar fate.

Also, leg kicks are Diaz kryptonite.
 
I think Rockhold is just about the worst match-up possible for Diaz at 185. Luke would smash him imo.
 
It would be classic in the sense that Diaz would clown and then lose. Classic Nick.

Does it make you mad that not everyone thinks the Diaz bros are the best thing ever? I bet it does!
 
Rockhold walks around at HW digits. I dont think thats a very fair fight for Nick who had fought at 160lbs. Whats the point when there are so many good fights for Nick at WW?

Well Lyoto isnt known for his scrambles or guard, off his back he just stalls like Anderson usually but hes much better at getting back to his feet. Nick has much better BJJ than Lyoto and would probably provide more resistance on the ground but ultimately suffer a similar destruction.

Maybe he should win a fight before we consider him a top guy., it has been 5 years.
 
I cant' stand Nick Diaz but i don't understand at all the thinking behind Rockhold dominating the fight. Luke would shell up and go into defence mode quite a bit in that kind of fight.
