Nick Diaz in a gi 2 weeks before his fight...

cool story, glad he's as cool as i wanted to believe he was! :-)

Cash you're looking lean. How much you weighting in at?

Thanks, man. I weigh about 208 now. I have to change my avatar to a chimp! I'm right on the border between the heavy and super heavy weight divisions. I have always entered the super heavy division. I think I'm doing heavy at the US Nationals.

But, usually the open division is the toughest part of a tourney so I don't want to go in not eating my regular diet.

The lower weight has really helped my knees and my shoulders feel better.

On a side note, my picture has been deleted on the first page. I don't know why. I don't think I'm breaking any rules.

Here it is again...

I'm not even sure at what weight Nick is fighting. He looks like he's weighing about 180 now.

I've met the guy before, he was really nice and nothing like his ring persona

DAMN it Bill. I envy your school teaching job. Something told me to call in sick and go train today. But we are way to busy at work. Which in this day and age is a good thing. I always tell people who think Nick is a prick that they have never met him or spent even one minute around him away from the cameras. He is as humble as humble can be. Him shaking every white belts hand and introducing himself proves it.

Bill how was it watching him and Caio go at it? Have him and Mateus rolled together?

Check your PM Mr. Bullshido. :D

I am wondering how many other MMA fighters train in the regular gi class 2 weeks before a fight.

Bill this is a good thread. People need to know that Nick and Nate are some of the coolest people you will ever meet. Also I dont know if they do regular class but Bj trains in the GI up till about three weeks out and Jon Fitch who is a Dave Camarillo black belt trains in the GI up till w few weeks out. WAR DIAZ

Is the judo a "new" thing because Nate has pulled way more throws of in MMA then Nick, he hunts the takedown in another way

You are correct. Nick relies on his boxing to wear people out or to knock them down. Nathan has had some nice throws in the cage. Nick wants to learn everything. He works on all aspects of fighting. He has worked with some top Bay Area judokas. He noticed that I was working on some judo after class, so he became very interested. He is still learning the fight game. Kinda scary, huh?

thats the key to being a good martial artist/fighter never losing the student attitude.

I met him at the UFC 100 expo.

Nick is my favorite fighter, so when i saw he was signing stuff with his brother i waited in line for as long as it took.

He was a real cool guy. I don't think he realizes how many fans he has.

that's cool. i am a fan of nick's.
i usually hate MMA fighters that talk shit, but for some reason i overlook it with him :)

Funny, I'm the same way. I've become a really big Nick Diaz fan over the years.

I love the fact that he's so devoted to jiu jitsu even as his MMA career gets better and better.

Good stuff!

been a fan of nick since the Diego fight, what a sick fight that was. Dude has one of the best chins ever as well. So, have you ever smoked a fat one with him? id love to do that. lol

gotta love the diaz bros, they just know how to market themselves

Nice :) Diaz is definetly my favourite fighter of all time I don't do MMA myself but he's a big inspiration to me when it comes to boxing, his toughness is what I admire most about him, would love to meet him and maybe spar a few rounds of boxing with him someday but that's unlikely as I live in Ireland lol, great thread btw.

does nick still train and teach at ceasar's on a regular basis or does he have his own gym?

I won't judge his attitude, I'm nobody to do that....
but he is one of the most entertaining/funny guys in ufc, you have to admit it.
his "always forward" attitude, his trash talking, his support of weed....

Nick has to be the most honest athlete in sports, I have no doubt that everytime you see him interviewed he is actually being himself. I have a lot of respect for that.

He is also a cool guy, I know an 11 year old who has been to a bunch of his meet and greets and he actually remembers her by name.
