Media Nick Diaz - coherent rehab interview

The weirdness of life. A man like this can be unbelievably disciplined within his training regimen and reach the apex of what might be the most physically demanding sport on the planet with respect to 1 versus 1 competition, but lack the discipline to lay down a chemical substance. Conversely, while I'm disciplined in the periphery of life (I'm straight edge) and moderately disciplined in my fitness/sports journey I never had a professional MMA fighters discipline level with regards to physical output. I couldn't muster the will to care that much like he couldn't muster the will to let harmful things go.

I hope he finds peace and maintains it.
He seems like he's ADHD as fuck. I am too, but not to his level. It's easy to concentrate on things you're interested in but it's absolutely pulling teeth to stay locked in on something you're not.

I've met Nick twice randomly in Vegas. He's actually a super nice guy in my experience. But that dude really does walk around like the world is out to get him. See him out walking around and he looks like he's walking out to the octagon. But just walk up to him friendly and you literally watch all that tension just melt and he's super nice.

He said something years ago that he felt because of how his mma career went (and substance abuse) that he never really felt like he properly developed or matured mentally. Couple that with social anxiety; maybe a little CTE and substance abuse and you get what we’ve seen for the last ten years out of Nick. I don’t believe Nick is a cautionary tale; I would say he is a legit legend that could’ve been managed a million times better than he was.

Yeah, it sucks he missed the entire tail end of his prime dealing with that absurd five year marijuana suspension. He was only 31 years old when he fought Anderson Silva and that was the last we saw of him until that sad display in the Robbie Lawler rematch where it was very obvious he didn't want to be there.

This is great to see. Hope he continues on the right path. I wish him nothing but the best.

Honestly. Good for him, hope he stays on this posi side and has a good life

Nate has a bit of a speech impediment, Nick has always been mumbly. Both guys are high 24/7 and have weird social anxiety type issues going on, their speech patterns never really changed nor got worse with age. The whole CTE thing is just idiots saying idiotic things, Chuck, Nam Phan...very clear examples of CTE.
I have a friend with a unique voice and speech pattern. He's also a TERRIBLE drunk and drug user. I can't understand a word he says on the phone when he's fucked up, I can always understand and know when he's sober. wish Nick good luck, he needs something to consume his time and keep him straight

good for him, good to see he's getting things straightened out. hopefully stays away from the bad influences, so many guys don't.

He sounds good. Glad he's doing well. Hopefully he just sticks to the weed.

Masvidal said he's trying to get the McGregor fight for the White House card.
I know , and that fight honestly makes sense to me , but pink goof said it was a dumb idea for some reason

It felt so bad to see him trying to talk his way back into a fight by going on Ariel, and destroying all confidence that he was well enough to do so.

All hail any progress he has on getting his life together, although I do wish he could find something besides fighting to do. He dont need to get hit anymore.

I watched tuf 5 like a dozen times. Nate never really had the anxiety stuff Nick did, he always spoke pretty well.

Even leading up to the Conor fight, Nate was talking pretty well.

It got really bad in between the first and second Conor fight, then after that, which is when his boxing skill(and training) was at it's peak.

Nick's speech patterns have more or less stayed the same.

Nate's changed drastically over time, I think he took a lot more damage than Nick did.

Good for Nick. I always liked the Diaz brothers. Nick was one of my favorite fighters but you could tell he was a troubled soul. I'm sure growing up in the 209 the way he did didn't help him mature. Seems like one of those guys that knows the difference between good and bad and he does care but ran with the wrong crowds and was paranoid a lot about fights or disrespect.

He didn't really answer any of the guy's questions....lol. This was more Nick giving a life story monolog. Which is was good of that interviewer to get out of the way and let Nick talk through it. So many people keep trying to jump in and agree or interrupt the flow.

I hope he is able to maintain the peace and find things in life that make him happy.

Yeah two guys who are past it but will talk trash and stand and bang and likely be pretty much a retirement fight for both guys.
