I've read some people belueve Miocic could beat Ngannou on the later rounds as if he was a big guy with no cardio. I've watched hus only decision defeat (close one) and he seemed fine until the fight ended. I don't believe he would fade ala Lombard after the 1st or 2nd Rd. In the same fight he received some good shots and his chin was good enough, not even rocked.

I don't know who's gonna win (rooting for Stipe) but this must be the toughest fight for both guys.

I believe people are referring to him gassing against blaydes in which he gassed after the 1st....not that it mattered since he got the win, but there is a method to the madness of people thinking he can gas or get out wrestled

Blaydes established a jab and mixed in takedowns and made francis appear more human...you can say it's cause he was green and he's dramatically improved, but since no else has tried that game plan who can really say

That fight was 3 rounds though, and there's no telling what Francis might look like if it hits the championship rounds.

A more recent example of Francis' cardio outside of the 1st round would have to be in either of his first two UFC fights, since they both went to the second round. He didn't look gassed in either, but even if he was, his style isn't really about constant movement.

His chin might have looked good against Cisse, but Stipe is a different beast that has been icing dudes in the first round. Yeah, he might not put Francis out with one shot, but he could definitely hurt him more than Cisse did, and that's because he's a better striker than Zoumana.

He never gassed against Curtis, he kept the same pace thorough, which was a slow one.

You could make the argument about him gassing against Henrique, since they both looked really, really slow after they got stood up in the second round, but that's all.

I just watched the fight on fightpass, he is noticeably more sluggish in the 2nd

They are just Ngannou haters grasping at straws. Every logical fan knows Stipe is going to get slept.

He looked very human in his first two UFC fights, which were both against wrestling centric fighters.

Luis Henrique actually had more success in the wrestling and grappling department against Francis than anyone else. He was most likely winning the fight before they got stood up in the second round and subsequently got blasted.

Iirc, he took Francis down often and kept him there for long periods of time.

Thx for the info
Have not watched the henrique fight yet....will do

Surprised Curtis did well with the jab. Had Francis buckled a couple of times. I noticed Francis has no leg kicks.

I can't wait to see Ngannou's ground game (if we get to see it)

Yup, lots of interesting 'what ifs', like:

- Can FN's cardio hold up.
- Hows has his grappling progressed.
- Can Stipe handle a punch like a fire truck running him over.

Fun fight.

I'm sure his chin is fine and he can last 3 rounds against no names. But he's going to have a tough fight with Miocic if he can't find a home for his punches.

But I mean, considering his punching power and Miocic's tendency to get tagged, he has favorable odds to win. I'm still picking Miocic via brutal GnP. It's probably going to look like Miocic vs Hunt.

Every logical fan should know that the heavyweight division is the last place you should say "every logical fan knows" how a fight will end.

how about his ground game

I honestly think Stipe takes it. Will be a very interesting fight for sure!

The decision Ngannou lost was in a 2 round fight.

I remember him gassing during a warm up.

Not that it matters, Stipe won't be able to handle the massive strength difference and power.

Ngannou KO R1.

I believe Francis will struggle to keep up with Stipe should the fight go into the championship rounds. That said, I think Francis is the more explosive fighter and could absolutely catch Stipe with something brutal early. Stipe better bring his A game. Can't wait for this one.
