Ngannou is the first UFC fighter to have the possibility of getting out ofis contract as a champion

OK, how many current UFC fighters bring enough PPV views to justify that kind of pay day,
base salary? Certainly not Ngannou...

Also the UFC sells fights just by their name. These boxing promoters are paying so much because they have to otherwise nobody would watch.

what r u basing this off of?

maybe dana white just sucks at promoting and building stars?

Yes, December 2022 would be the end of his contract. This is why Dana didn't do the press conference or put the belt around Ngannou. They are fucked, in terms of negotiating. Either the UFC will have to penny up or let their champion go.

Rogan asking Ngannou where he will go next post fight was a UFC tactic to get a sense of what he was thinking. Didn't really work, Francis is doing him and it looks like he will be waiting his contract out. Rightfully so.

The tides are changing boys and girls, the UFC's bull shit Champion Clause and holding fighters hostage is coming to an end. They will be paying fighters more or letting them go, who they built up, to other promos who will pay more.
My guess is UFC won't mention Ngannou and will probably strip his belt and act like they don't have a HW champ.

I was wondering about that....The UFC usually has these iron clad contracts making the fighters under contract for 40 yrs....aka GSP
Francis hasn't signed a new offer in 5 years , he's definitely gotten them, (this is also why he was paid 600k as per his 5 years old contract)

Am
I just wasted or did I remember yesterday Francis saying how he wanted to fight once a year
I’m sick and tired of champs clogging up and holding up the divisions fighting once a year. It’s a joke.

if I ran the ufc,
I’d force a 6-8 month clause or you forfeit the belt

You mean after Randy (Almost twice, but he lost against Overeem's less famous brother), Bustamante, Jens and BJ Penn out of the top of my mind...
They didn't have that possibility did they?

They just did it

"According to former ESPN boxing reporter Dan Rafael, Fury and Wilder were contractually guaranteed $5 million each in their second bout but ended up earning more than $25 million apiece."

Ngannou, UFC champion and "baddest man on the planet", against the gypsy king! Let's go!!!!

Give him $15-25 million and get it done.
LoL ngannou would take that for less than half. Why offer so much? Sherdoggers would be terrible at business

They aren't paying out that kind of cash of the kindness of their heart.

Quick, name the Fury vs Wilder III undercard?

im not sure i get where you're going with this.

what im seeing if criminal business practices being defended and the victims being blamed.

i'll ask u this, how much do you think the UFC made in PROFITS last night?

Can't wait for sherdoggers to cry when champs get cut after their contracts are up.

As much as they possibly could just like every other business in the entire world.
There was nothing criminal about it. It's a business not a charity.

BTW, did you purchase the $75 PPV last night? If so, can you prove it? I'll wait here for your proof:

i didnt but i have receipts for past events ive bought and they're numerous...cuz i try and support the athletes that entertain me...
i didnt watch any of the fights last night to be honest

the criminal part is in the language of the contract. thats what these anti trust law suits are about dum dum

OK, let's put it into the "proper context" then and compare UFC pay with sports like Boxing, Jiu Jitsu
and Bare knuckle boxing? How about golf, what's the 300th ranked player on the PGA tour make?

The UFC is not comparable to organizations NBA, NFL and MLB. Those are sports with teams that
play 17 to 162 games a season and regularly sell out stadiums that hold 50,000 fans.

And, what exactly is the ethical amount to pay a person to fist fight in a cage for 15 minutes?
Between 50% and 100% more than they make now based on revenue splits from similar sports leagues

apparently according to the article posted GSP is in a year or so from UFC contract.

You mean after Randy (Almost twice, but he lost against Overeem's less famous brother), Bustamante, Jens and BJ Penn out of the top of my mind...
I was gonna say Jens beat him by about 20 years but Randy left in 98 and I think Frank did too in 99.

If Francis can get a fight with either AJ, Fury, or Wilder.. then he will probably make a minimum of 10m.

Otherwise, even a top 5 fight against Dillian Whyte, Joseph Parker, or maybe Andy Ruiz could get him a few million.

So his only way forward is boxing? Not that I disagree. This is why I dont understand why his free agent-ness is so exciting.
If the only way for a Champion in widely known pro sport X is to build up enough hype for him to do a freakshow appearance in another sport.... well.... there are issues.
