Media Ngannou: "Everything was designed for me to fall"

I can see that. I’m very optimistic about normalcy again. For now I’m just riding the wave and enjoying it.

Proud of you brother, you're doing the right thing, and don't think about it in terms of time.

Think about it in terms of life, and your living of that life.
The rest will settle itself, and that parts that don't you'll be equipped to deal with to iron them out.

Francis details his injury in this video. It's a series in Youtube. It has 2 episodes now. But I think it's not very worth it to watch all and make full notes of it. Here are some interesting bits I found.

Everything was designed for me to fall and collapse — you know, not to come back. That was it. That was how it was designed. Like, ‘OK, that’s how it’s going to be, let’s go. The injury happened on Dec. 28, exactly three days after Christmas.”

Francis and Erick Nicksick said the injury happen when a fighter from Germany who they are not familiar with stepped up and spar Francis.

We were sparring and I think he got overwhelmed. He shot desperate like takedown you know, then when I tried to turn around, I heard the crack like on my knee. Right at that moment when you hear that on your knee, you know that something is happening, you know. But I was so warmed up that I couldn’t feel it, exactly, but I knew something's not going on. I was hoping that maybe 'ah it was just a bad feeling.'”

“I was willing to do anything possible for me to heal a little bit. I wasn’t expecting to heal up. I wasn’t expecting some magical solution to resolve the injury, but I was just hoping to get a little bit better, as much as possible. Technically, I couldn’t do anything. I wasn’t allowed to do anything where I had to pivot with striking, or anything where I would have to take a chance.”

In the episode 2, it was shown that Erick tried to persuade Francis to pull out from his fight with Gane. Francis persevere and keep on fighting. Very remarkable act, respect.

I hope Francis returns soon. He is one of the most exciting fighter in the UFC. Too bad a lot of things happened which caused him to be inactive. Anybody know who that German fighter is? He might be the future Goat.

you think the german fighter is a UFC plant ? because this is what this article is implying lol

You’re exactly right. I no time I’ll be equipped with all the tools I need and everything will be behind me.

Cowboy and his wife have repeatedly said Cowboy didn't get a pay bump to fight McGregor.
Eddie Alvarez tried to negotiate for more money when he fought McGregor and the ufc threatened to call off the fight with McGregor and have Khabib fight Alvarez. The ufc went so far as to send Khabib 2 contracts to fight Alvarez and Alvarez ended up caving and getting paid off his contracted amount.
Mendes did. Also maybe they got bonus pay. There is a reason why everyone wanted to fight Conor, it was primarily for money. Also Conor improved everyones pay in mma. MMA pay increased because it had to after Conor. So Conor is responsible for many fighters in mma making more money currently.

Utterly pathetic.

Sure, buddeh. When the UFC hyped your ass to no end, before you fought Stipe the first time. Yes, all designed to make you fail. Or there’s the part where you blew off TC. Just so you could do whatever in France. That worked out really well for Penn, before the rematch with GSP too.

Fucking did it again too. Needing knee surgery, you delayed that for 2 months. Because you needed to go to Cameroon? Apparently surgery and a cast is much worse than doing whatever the fuck for two months on a wonky knee?

Come on man.. I blew out my knee. Just trying to walk was completely ridiculous. Who the fuck delays that shit to go on vacation instead? I had my surgery the next morning.

Playing the victim card is way too fucking much, man. Crying about only getting paid $600K. And yet somehow you left out that whole part where you literally blew off $7M?

Crying about being left on the shelf. So maybe accept that Volkov fight you turned down?

Is there literally anybody on this planet buying this guy’s bullshit anymore?

Mendes got paid extra cause it was a short notice fight, same thing with diaz when he came off vacation and beat Conor on short notice

I'm sure everyone else got bonuses that wasn't disclosed. Maybe even a split of the PPV. No one fighting Conor didn't make more money than their previous pay. Everyone that fought Conor got paid more. That's why they all chased that fight.

Cowboy and Alvarez have both said otherwise. Mendes and Diaz took the Conor fights on short notice so the ufc gave them 500k each to show up. Diaz won, so he was able to renegotiate his deal. Mendes lost, so he went back to his regular pay after.

I doubt that, if they really didn't get extra pay they messed up bad with those negotiations. You don't fight Conor without an increase of pay or some kind of bonus pay or PPV split.

36 years old coming off ACL and MCL surgery. Will be interesting if he will ever be able to regain his peak form.

While this certainly may be of concern for Francis the guy biggest strength are his hands and power. It may affect his footspeed and forward explosiveness but if he connects he's still going to KTFO guys left and right. Not saying it won't affect him (if it does at all) but due to his style it may not impede him as much as other archetypes of fighters.

Well the bonus for Mendes and Diaz was a flat 500k just to show up on short notice, which was a massive pay raise for both. Alvarez likely got ppv points for fighting Conor because he was the defending champ, but that’s about it. Cowboy likely didn’t get any ppv points because he’s never won a title and wasn’t defending a title. He got a standard 200k to show and 200k to win for the Conor fight.
