Ngannou landed a flush overhand right on Stipe and it only buckled him a little bit but DC caught him with an overhand right and knocked him out; I understand that there are angle differences but to me it looks like that although Ngannou hits hard, his power is overrated. Many fighters have knocked out Overeem and once you get knocked out once, it is much easier to do so moving forward and the same for his knockout of Arlovski. Who else has he knocked out to warrant his repuatation of being the hardest puncher in the sport?

Stipe had no idea the punch from DC was coming. He was probably able to brace a bit before the Ngannou punch. That makes a huge difference.

Ngannou is definitely a harder hitter than DC. But hitting the hardest isn't the only determining factor in landing a KO

Most KO's are a result of accuracy and timing as well as not seeing it coming.

The punch that you don't see coming is the one that's most likely to knock you out. That's what happened here.

Stipe should have said Ngannou's words after the DC loss: "I think I underestimated him a little bit"

DC has a strong punch. He could knock anyone out with a clean punch

Its the ones you dont see.... damn about half a dozen beat me to it

It wasn't just the power. That punch landed clean AF right on the chin with a lot of torque.

nuhgannou the piece of shit, meeeohcic the piece of shit

The shots you don't see...
Plus DC punching upwards aided in hitting stipe in that big lever

A lot of the credit should probably to go DC's boxing coach.

Roy Nelson who has fought both said that DC hits harder than Stipe. Its clear that Stipe underestimated DCs power and striking.

Cormier being way shorter helped him get that KO. He was able to land a fully extended power punch while still being so close to him. Stipe probably didn't think it would be possible which is why he had his guard down.

DC's punch was extremely clean and right on the button...Plus it was over the shoulder,so it wasn't exactly easy to see coming. That's the major difference.

Others above nailed it.

It was how flush it landed, and Stipe never even saw it coming.

DC can certainly bang though, especially at HW.

As others have said, it's the punch you don't see coming that does it. With as many eyepokes as DC landed in the fight, it's a wonder Stipe could see at all. Or maybe he saw multiple punches coming and didn't know which one to dodge? :D

its the punches you don't see. Looking back, how many fighters of Cormier's stature has Miocic fought?

Dan is better than Frank though. What was Ngannou doing yesterday anyways. He landed 10 strikes all night, I don't even know how that could happen in a fight going the distance.
