Meh. When a player sucks the team can cut him and save money depending on the guarantees but when a player out performs his deal people want him to honor his contract. It goes both ways.
 
19 LTs making more than Penn this year. Hes on a 2 year, 12.5 mil contract.

To put that in some perspective, Okung's can ass is getting 13+ mil this season.

Shoot that man a couple mil and move on lol.

He just signed his new contract last year or the year before. I do recall he visited the Giants before he signed and they offered him nothing. He signed for more than fair market value at the time, no one forced him to sign.

Apparently his agent had calls into Reggie not long after Carrs contract was announced.

True. Howard was cut today with years left on his deal.

It's not right that these guys can get cut while Under contract and get no compensation. It also sucks when guys are under contract and hold out.

Yeah I've though about it more and it definitely won't hurt to restructure his deal and give him a more money. He's definitely earned it. Plus releasing Howard and Jones adds about 4.7 million back to the cap so there is more money to give around. However, I don't think he is getting top 10 money or more years added to his existing deal (maybe one year). That's doubling his current salary and he's 34 and nearing the end of his career. His play could fall off a cliff at any point. Plus, Reggie's gotta keep the cap flexible for future signings.

It will be short. I imagine this will be his last season with the Raiders.

Dude was a fantastic pick up. I hated it when he was signed because he came off a completely terrible season in TB.
