I was told that the Tanny Titans game could be moved to Monday night. Very intriguing

Brady has a losing record to Peyton in the playoffs. Pretending it wasn’t a healthy rivalry is pretty ridiculous.

This was changed very late in Peyton's career. That doesn't tell the story of how it was viewed for most of these 2 guys careers.

In the 2000s it was the consensus that Peyton was the better QB but that Brady was better in the playoffs. Then in 2007 the script largely flipped as Brady surpassed Peyton Manning as a QB but also started to not get it done in the playoffs. Before that it really wasn't a healthy rivalry given how much the Colts won in the 2000s in the regular season the amount of success they had in the playoffs was flat out awful.

Brady had 2 dynastic clusters in the beginning and end of his career with a decade of constant playoff disappointment in between. That changed the way people viewed things a bit.

Brady never surpassed Peyton as a QB until Peyton’s leg and arm fell off lol.

They had a competitive rivalry.

The Brady vs Manning rivalry was one of the greatest ever. Brady is the GOAT but Manning is still top 5.

Brady was never better than Peyton at any point, besides Peytons final year.

I'll never get this take, ya Brady has rings but dude wasn't even as good and Andrew Luck.

With the exception of 07(where Brady was clearly superior, though Peyton and the Colts had a great overshadowed year where they started 8 or 9-0)this is plausible. In the 2010s absent that insane year in 2013 they were comparable but would prolly give Brady the edge. In the 2010s it was very subjective though while pre 2007 Peyton was clearly superior.

Peyton was clearly more talented. Brady getting the statistically great seasons seems to pair with the rings seems to have been what changed public opinion from the 2000s and 2010s.

And I don't buy the rings equals greatness nonsense. Barry Sanders is the GOAT RB IMO with 1 playoff win. Think Brees and Rodgers playoff failures could(largely) be excused in this debate given what they had to work with and produced regardless(Brees and Rodgers treatment tells us alot about how Marino would have been treated with 1 superbowl). But with Peyton relying on his stats gets a lot harder because he had more tools for longer than all these guys and what he did was underachieving. He had 2 HOF receivers for like what 7 years, great defense where Freeney's prolly going to HOF and great OL? Stats are the expectation with that. Not holding superbowls and playoff losses against a player is fine if they don't have the tools but if their team is stacked on both sides of the ball for years on end it's a pretty fair critique.

Peyton played in 4 superbowls and just wasn't himself in any of those games. In the Colts win they might have lost if the allegedly great Bears defense didn't forget Reggie Wayne existed on that first TD.

Sorry bro, it's an objective fact.

I think Brady is great but Andrew Luck was a better QB than Montana, Tarkenton, Brady, and even Favre.

Andrew Luck was really special. We were robbed of one of my favorite QB's to ever play the game.

Peyton has been shown teaching receivers how to run their routes, Peyton isn't just stats and 2 great receivers and Edge, the dude was a scheming genius. At the line pre-snap or even post snap his reads were incredible. The smartest player of all times.

In 07 he did. Quite literally broke Peyton's record. Besides that yes competitive rivalry afterwards. Peyton had that whole era where he was clearly better than Brady and 2013 while Brady had just one year. But the difference in playoff success is just so great(5 more serious championships,6 more serious superbowl appearences etc) where it seems the consensus is that just doesn't matter.

But the Brees and Rodgers comparisons do not go well for Peyton at all IMO.

Btw I think every NFL QB's case for GOAT is heavily flawed as it currently stands and I do not think Brady is clearly the GOAT as it seems most NFL media members have decided he is. But I see Rodgers,Brees and Elway possibly Montana(though I put Peyton barely above him that is a very subjective call to make) as having much better cases to be made against Brady than Peyton.
