Differently mentality in rural SC. Those forests are dense and FULL of wild animals that are super intrusive and dangerous to livestock and farmland. If you see one raccoon there’s usually 20 behind it. You HAVE to kill them, especially if you have dogs, chickens, etc. They’re cute, but if you want to see vicious, they will absolutely fucking slaughter your whole chicken coop, eat your cats, gouge your dog’s eyes out.

And if you’re killing stuff, might as well eat it imo.
