Leveraging for money isn't insecurity
He will get his money if he outperforms the others. So honestly do you think he's such a good player right now that he needs to get paid after year three? After all he still has two full years left on his current deal.

Jenkins also apparently sitting out due to wanting a new deal before the season, those cap jumps are hitting hard right now. :D

Yes, he needs to leverage for an extension or opportunities to get more money and not be replaced by a rookie. These are valid complaints and concerns. If they just replaced him with a rookie it would tank his value. If they're gonna do that, trade him. Now.

Not being able to play in three receiver sets, being shitty against man coverage and drops are issues that HE needs to fix. Between him, Watson and Doubs he will be the one getting paid, that's almost certain. How much will be up to him. LaFleur isn't going to play rookies over him if he's clearly better.

Most NFL defenses are playing zone, its also a scheme issue. Their man beater Christian Watson was worse. Man is also reliant on the QB being accurate, which you don't have.

Not being able to play in 3 WR sets is probably he most casual/retarded thing I've seen said about him. The Packers don't run a lot of 13 because they're focused on RPO/Play Action

There are stats that show that he clearly can't get open in man coverage, his drops are also not due to Love. I know you always want to blame everything on Love, but this isn't it. Reed is talented as hell but needs to work on stuff. I'm also not sure where you are getting from that Watson was worse against man coverage.

these stats are taken out of context

I don't always blame love, I've said Reed drops some passes that are golden and then catches the bad shit.

Watson vs man coverage is better statistically because when he breaks he breaks huge. He is also just bad vs both zone and man. Reed isn't outside guy, he's a slot guy that LeQueer uses as a gadget player. He can play outside but he doesn't have any form of consistency in his role week to week. He's not a prime Cooper Kupp. It's also easy to scheme out Reed week to week and he still produces.

Drafting Golden just drafted a faster version of the guys the Packers already have.

Imma have to disagree with most of that lol. Watson is pretty clearly a good WR when healthy, the offense becomes way worse when he doesn't play and he's a good blocker outside, just injured too much. Reed is used as a gadget guy sometimes, yes, maybe Savion will take some of those snaps from him and Reed can focus more on routes. LaFluer adjusts the gameplans from week to week, because they don't have a true #1 guy in this WR room.

The draft is not just for the upcoming season bud, I know it's a tough concept when teams constantly draft in the Top 10, but WRs being drafted just means that Doubs and Watson are likely gone barring some insane developments. I'd go as far as saying that Doubs could become available at the deadline if he didn't suffer 2-3 concussions by then.

Watson has had like 5 good games in 3 years. The offense seems to work just fine when he doesn't play because he isn't an integral part of the offense.

Every other coach can adjust game plans and play to the strengths of their WR's, the Packers WR room has massively over performed in that area. I don't know what a true #1 WR is. If you're saying they don't have a dominant outside WR, no. Most teams don't have that, so if you wanted that you draft Higgins, not Golden. Higgins can catch though so that goes against the Packers draft philosophy.

I don't know how Doubs and Watson are even in consideration in respects to how Golden and Reed are the one's who overlap. The point being made is what I said in the last paragraph and the post before. Golden's role is more than likely being put into Reed's. So Reed wants the extension or to be traded so he doesn't lose money. The Packers didn't draft an outside/X #1 WR.

This whole thing sounds like Packer fans are adoring the shiny new toy instead of realizing they just used a premium on the same toy with flames on the side.

Dude, Golden will play outside WR and Savion will also play mostly outside WR. Your point is completely invalid because it is based in your fantasy, not reality. When Watson got injured there were all the stats floating around, they do much better with him on the field even if he isn't the one getting the targets.

Again, get it in your head, Golden will play outside.

He's undersized and can't block for shit. Great outside WR. We're just going to pretend he's Tyreek Hill like all those other undersized busts.

Nice to keep it on track though on why Reed would make sure his shit is secure <JackieThumbsUp>

Edit: And LOL @ Savion Williams getting significant play time. He's a gadget guy in college drafted on upside alone not skills.

I already told you that he is going to get paid and how much will be up to him. If he needs to run to a new agent and have him annoy Gutekunst about it because the Packers drafted WRs (that suck and don’t fit according to you) he can do that, just looks ridiculous and a little pathetic. He has two full years left, work for it if you demand an early extension.

Just telling you that Golden will play outside, how it works we will see. Savion played outside in seasons before the last one, the gadget stuff was mostly last season, but draft nerds only watch a couple of recent games so they wouldn‘t know……

Brother you're acting like this isnt what every agent does all the time.

I've said the Packers have one of the best WR rooms in the league.

You don't understand he and his agent are trying to get paid. He doesn't want his workload reduced because that will have a direct impact on his upcoming extension or contract. He's also only a 4 year player. He's looking for the extension at the end of this year, not next.

Savion is just a big body who isn't particularly skilled. If he was, he would have been drafted higher. He has issues with route running and catching, which is why he was converted to a gadget guy. I guess I didn't know that because reasons 🤨

I really don't understand Packer fans, you have an embarrassment of riches compared to most teams in the NFL from the drafting and developmental process in Green Bay, meanwhile the fans always bitch about players or units not being the absolute best when they're consistently producing. The biggest issues the Packers have is taking initiatives to get them over the hump. It's not drafting and developing consistent baseline talent.

I think this past draft was absolutely dog shit for the team, it didn't follow any of the previous drafts logic or template the Packers follow. Forgive me if I think deviating from the process that made them a competent franchise isn't the way to go and I trust the guys entrenched in the process that did work.

Agents do that, yeah, it is not that hard to understand. It‘s just funny that Reed of all players, after this season that he had, felt the need to have a new agent and to have him put out that statement. It just came off as very weird and not just to me, to almost everyone lol, still love the player and I hope he can improve some aspects of his game so he does get paid a pretty penny.

Whether he is such a priority that he needs to get paid after three, rather than 4 years we will have to see. We are not talking JJ level here. WR room is talented but no one took a step forward last season, which was a surprise.

As for Savion, dudes who have watched did not think that he could not cut it outside, Gutekunst vehemently disagreed on the gadget stuff. He is raw as hell for sure, but damn that ceiling is also high as fuck. Agreed that he will not get too many snaps in year one.

As for the draft, I think Golden was pretty clearly BPA and they decided against trading back, they loved Belton and a trade back to take him later was not available as per Gute, Savion was again clearly their BPA and even a 2nd round target iirc for them. R4-7 is usually strong for them, hope that continues.

Golden fits their criteria just enough by the way, not the tallest or heaviest but isn’t a stick or midget either.

All in all I bet that they aren‘t all that happy with how the board fell, though! Have a good night bud. :)
