Purdy sucks shit.
I am happy to have him over turning into the raiders and I'm not saying that to shit talk. He will never be Mahomes/Allen. You can win with him though, game was a coin flip with some bounces going the other way.

Third youngest QB to ever start a SB. Look at the stats for the two QBs that were younger then him. Look at what that defense did to Allen and Lamar.

Him missing Deebo/Aiyuk for long TDs with a man in his face during cover 0 blitzes probably cost us the game. A elite QB probably hits at least one of those.

That said he played a clean game when the chiefs broke protection a season high (9 unblocked rushers!!!). People will ignore a young QB not being rattled by that in the Superbowl though because one side has to say he is the worst QB ever and the other side claims he is the next Tom Brady. No in-between

What is this bullshit excuses niners players are whining about not knowing the OT rules? If that is true, Shanahan sucks, they are also idiots and boo hoo they still couldn’t score a TD <45>

I can understand players not knowing, but if the coaching staff didn't then thats a big problem. The play probably should have been to go on defense since you are guaranteed a drive. Romo pointed it out pretty much immediately. Getting the ball second essentially gives you an additional down because you know if you need to go for it on 4th or not.

Based on the way the game was going I would have taken the ball second, but it's split on which is better.

Getting the ball first if you both score you only need a FG to win the game and get the next possession. That said Andy said they were going for two if they scored after a niners TD. I also think the defense was gassed from the end of regulation so they were trying to give them a break.

There's no way around that it was bad that some of the 49ers were unaware of the OT rules (Mecole Hardman claims he knew the rules but just blacked out after he caught the TD...but I doubt it. lol)

That being said, both defenses were gassed. I understand giving them a break on OT to regroup. Both units were on fumes by that point- the SB is a marathon, not a sprint even though you're obviously going 100% every snap. That's why sustaining drives is so important, and both defenses did a great job not letting the offenses get in a rhythm for the vast majority of the game. You can only play so many snaps before you wear down, though.

Sucks about Greenlaw, man. He's a great player and it was cruel that he went down like that.

There really isn’t an excuse for players not knowing. Any good NFL fan knew the rules since the playoffs started and the refs explained it to the captains before OT lol. It’s also bad coaching since multiple players seemingly didn’t know the rules.

I guess add it to the list of things Shanahan screwed up in this SB lol.

the seasons over for anything and everything Taylor Swift related

Not surprised some fat fucking league of legends player is engagement farming with something this unfunny

shut the fuck up

Oh is he like a Twitch streamer? They all seem like fat overweight men growing beards pretending they've picked up a hammer and did any sort of hard labor in their lives

Forget the Chris Jones quote in the tweet. Schefter confirmed that Reid, Kelce, Spags, Nagy, and Joe Cullen (their great d-line coach) will be back in 2024. You have that kind of continuity with your coaching staff and Kelce coming back for another season- that's going to lead to more success for the Chiefs. Sorry, @Poon Goon the waking nightmare may continue for a bit.

Sure man. Theyll end up paying him 50 million a year to be Jimmy G and miss wide open throws in the SB.

Hes not good imho, but he does play with a big pair of balls.

Genuinely curious to see what Kelce has left in the tank. He showed up for the playoffs and big show but he has definitely lost a step. Dude has been money the last 2 games when it mattered the most.

Makes me sick.

In thinking about OT more, the new rules were actually implemented prior to LAST season’s playoffs so an even bigger reason why players should have known. However I also wondered why there is a running clock at all other than the playclock. Really no point to even have time when you can just go on to the next OT if time runs out. Make it like college.

The only reason a running clock would make sense is if the weather/elements are a factor. You would need the field flipping so that deciding which end you kick/defend matters along with the switching of sides after the quarter. But with the SB being predominately in domes or in warmer climates, it's not a factor most of the time.

Yeah that makes sense and I guess it applies to the playoffs in general, so your theory makes sense since some teams play in bad weather stadiums.
