The new trend is asking for "money fights" instead of fighting ranked opponents and cementing your legacy.

Didn't they go to court to argue just that? The belt is a trophy and not a real championship dictated by contender status, etc.

I think we need belts that make sense.

National belts make sense. Youre the American champion, youre the Brazilian champion etc, we get it. continental belts make sense. You're the best fighter in all of europe, best fighter in all of south America, we get it.

Interim belts don't make sense. Youre the second best fighter in the division....why do you get a belt.
