It started with McNugget and now Turd Ferguson, is this the new trend in the UFC so that everybody and their brother can claim to be the champ?
Didn't they go to court to argue just that? The belt is a trophy and not a real championship dictated by contender status, etc.they're just talking. and it works. when they talk, people listen and repeat. same with Chael and his "people's champ" talk.
and fans and news media alike have been following things like "you have to beat the champ to be the champ" and "lineal champ" since for fucking ever. so it's not new.
so no. don't worry. champ is still whoever Dana says champ is. as described in this thread.
So - let's get this straight: Dana White says who is UFC champion, what happens in the octagon doesn't mean anything. He could just come out with a statement tomorrow saying his nephew is the new lightweight champion.
i bet that makes you feel better, eh?
i believe you are talking about a congressional hearing last year.Didn't they go to court to argue just that? The belt is a trophy and not a real championship dictated by contender status, etc.
Ah yes that would be it! Thanks!i believe you are talking about a congressional hearing last year.

The reference is even better.Turd Ferguson... that’s great. So simple yet so fitting. Turdy Ferguson is even better. And yes, the new goal for fighters is to win the belt and then stay sidelined with it for as long as the UFC will let them.
Turdy Ferguson
Lol did you know that they were gonna have Burton Reynolds on but he was gonna be even stupider? But then norm got the boot. Too bad would've loved that.
