Television New thriller series ‘Severance’ **Now Apple's Most Watched TV Series in History**

LOVE this series! I was very pleasantly surprised. It starts off slow but by the end you are on the edge of your seat. It is like the Office meets Twilight Zone. Definitely one of the beat TV shows out there at present, along with Yellowstone and Raised By Wolves (Loki pretty decent too).

We tried 4 episodes and got nothing from it. It’s very slow and I couldn’t gain interest in a single character. Not for me.
You should stick with it. I felt the same way but by the last few episodes you will be hooked. It’s a slow burn at first but really pics up momentum and all the puzzle pieces start making sense.

Great show, just about near the end. I always enjoy these types of shows, like a series-long Twilight Zone or Black Mirror episode.

One thing I've noticed about Patricia Arquette, is that she seems to be doing her best Catherine O'Hara impression throughout the show, albeit with a more serious tone.

It's a great show. It's basically a sci fi mystery. A little like Lost but actually good, and rooted in futuristic technology like Black Mirror.

For those that have seen it, regarding what they're doing in MacroData Refinement...
The founder Eigan believed in four "tempers" (woe, frolic, dread, malice) and this is evoked throughout, also with their associated colours. The employees of MDR are classifying numbers based on how they feel to them, into four categories. That's a little strange because that should be subjective. That suggests the severed might be connected to a hive mind of some sort through their chip, and they're classifying (mapping out) the brain patterns of fellow severed people into those four pathways. This also ties into the fact that Ricken annotated his gifted book to Mark with "To Mark, intrepid cartographer of the mind." Ricken probably knows more than is let on. In O&D, the employees were making objects and Burt referred to the fact that last week's hatchets felt 'aggressive'. Once again the object is evoking a subjective feeling in the severed, and maybe that's the real data - just different ways of obtaining it. Maybe the company is aiming to create clones with AI, and they're in a transition period where they're still hiring humans so they can finish mapping out the brain's functioning. Think back to what Mark said in the conference room when Helly asked if she had been grown in a vat and he answered along the lines of "You think we grew a whole human, with consciousness?"

People also noticed that the folder names on the computer are all city names (Siena, Italy), which could tie into why it's MACRO data refinement. So maybe they're not even analyzing the brain patterns of individual people, but large-scale patterns of data emerging from the entire severed population of a city. Who knows what's even going on in the 'outside world.'

About the town...
So people have mobile phones, brain chip technology... but they're driving cars from the 80s. It's a company city. There's obviously a Truman show sort of vibe going on. The "outies" might be severed as well, with the innies being two-layer severed.

Just finished this season. I highly recommend it. Great show. It's been a while since I've seen a show that really pulled me in.

I was hooked from the first 10 minutes of the first episode

I think I am done with Raised by Wolves. I have lost the thread in that series. I did not even initially realize when the second season was over. I am at the point where I am not even sure who everybody on the show is. Maybe there was just too long of a break between seasons. Glad that you are still enjoying it.

Your second spoiler is spot on. I’m not sure what exactly is going on but I think it’s something similar to what you said.

The first season was simply a masterpiece.

YEP.

& would you agree one of the best season finales of all time? i don’t watch a ton of tv, at least compared to a lot of people i know, but i’ve banged out a bunch of the staples & i don’t think i can name a better finale than Severance s1. it was perfect.

For sure amazing show. Been a while since I finished the series I might give it another go just because.

Dropped my Apple TV sub, this doesn't seem like a reason to get it back.
This show had no interesting characters, likeable characters. It's just unrevealed weird shit story. Even the kiddie Home Before Dark show was more interesting. People here like it because the fat glasses guy who keeps cussing is a Sherdogger and they see themselves in him.

I sampled some free first episodes and looking forward to turning Apple TV+ back on for the Jennifer Garner show, Edris show, S2 Slow Horses, S2 Foundation, S2 Invasion, S2 Melissa George show. I hope there's a S3 of the middle east spy show. There's an 80's 90's supermodel show I want to watch too. Also the Godzilla show.

Lol I just finished it and was about to bump this thread. Such a breath of fresh air, big time Twilight Zone vibes, best show I've seen in quite some time. Comedy, drama, suspense, thriller, this show had it all.

It's one of those shows where the entire acting ensemble is spetacular, but the unsung MVP is easily...

What a baller soundtrack, too.

Couldn’t find a thread on here about this show, but it’s absolutely phenomenal with an engaging mystery. I recommend all the Sherbro’s to check it out.

Mark leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives; when a mysterious colleague appears outside of work, it begins a journey to discover the truth about their jobs.

This is one of the best shows that has come out ina long time imo. It has nuanced colorful characters, lots of grey moral and philosophical themes. The whole thing is funny and deeply disturbing at the same time. Smart writing, makes you work for things and doesn't pander. Great acting, great casting, uniquely good cinematography for the type or series it is. I've put a bunch of my friends onto this show. Can't wait for season 2
