New Sport: Muay Hardcore

Everything music related was better up until like '96. Most Metal sucks too these days. That's why I listen to older music...
The 00s had a lot of good metal. Slipknot, Amon Amarth, Tyr, and Sabaton are all good bands from the era I can recommend.

I’ve heard a few good bands lately but it’s usually guys that play on a regional level. Mainstream music industry doesn’t really look for talent anymore, they manufacture their stars and have the same 5 people write the songs for almost every performer. The other problem is that less people grow up forming garage bands. They tend to do that electronic mixing shit instead because it’s cheap and takes as much artistic talent and skill that it takes to fill in a coloring book.

I've been producing electronic music for almost seven years now. Just like a conventional instrument, it takes skill and a good ear for music to make something worth listening to. If you're referring to DJ'ing, it's the same story. Nowadays we have lots of computer programs that can help you mix, but actually learning how to do a creative DJ set is difficult. Recently people have been abandoning the conventional idea of DJ'ing and just having all of the elements play live via midi and they manipulate everything from there with total control of the sounds. Jazz has been in the ears of a lot of the newer generation of electronic musicians, drilling the idea of improvisation over pre-recorded sets and those stomach curdling lazy transitions. Just like any genre, don't look at the DJs for big stages like Ultra or EDC. That's not where the scene or talent truly is.

I’m sure it is man, I was being facetious. I don’t mean to denigrate what you do. Electronic music strikes me as something relatively easy to do mediocrely but, difficult to do very well. I have a very strained relationship with music. I grew up in a home where music was a huge part of daily life. My folks were classical and jazz musicians, and played with several world class groups and notable shows. The SF Symphony, Phantom of the Opera, Sf Ballet were a few. So naturally, I was expected to learn how to play several instruments from the time I was able to walk. I had ADD and, struggled with the amount of focus and, dedication it took to get any since of competency. I remember asking my dad how long it would take to get good at playing the violin, he told me that it took at least 7 years to get any good. At some point I ended up realizing that I didn’t have the discipline, drive or passion it took to practice for 3 hours every day and, ended up resenting it. I feel like it is similar to growing up in fundamentalist religious community and leaving it. Sorry I ended up rambling there. I just wanted to give some context, sorry if I caused any offense.

Not a fan of Slipknot. My major issue with most newer metal isn't that the band can't play its usually terrible vocals that stop me from enjoying it. I want no part of that cookie monster shit.

One new band I do really like is Earthless, which is more stoner/desert rock than metal. A lot of long instrumental songs that will melt your face. Check out "Uluru Rock".

No offense taken, I'm just passionate about music production haha. That sort of upbringing sounds wild, I'd probably have a strained relationship with music too. As long as you have some endeavors that make you happy, it all balances out. All the best man

I think MX has 5oz gloves while Muay hardcore has normal MMA gloves. Also MX doesn't play metal during the rounds. I like them both lol
Reminds me of stand and bang in the UK. But they have roped
