Hey guys i want to get two cartilage hoop piercings (on my left lobe) and thought it would be a good idea to do it now since i took a break off of bjj gi for a month due to my summer class. Since it wont heal by the time i can do bjj again in sept., how can i cover it up during practice? Any other tips? THANKS!

head gear? anything else just makes it even more likely to get caught/pulled/etc...

Doesn't sound like a good idea. Sounds like it can get ripped da fuck out. I guess you could tape it then wear some ear muffs.

You might want to either take some more time off to let it heal properly or even postpone it for a while.

I had one of those pieceing when I was 18.
Took it out aftre 6 months or so.

Had an MMA fight almost 15 years yes years later, got punched in that ear and the ear tore right along that line, been bugging me for a few months since.

I would avoid.

That's going to get infected. Why would you get some weird cartilage piercing anyway? Are you an edgy 13-year-old girl?

Iv always wondered if I could grapple with my nipples pierced. I believe king mo has one. Not positive tho. I guess I'd just have to tape over them lol

I would personally recommend not trying that my friend. Even taped up, I found it extremely irritating.

a purp at my gym has his nips pierces. he got them long before he started bjj though

i did bjj with a fresh cartilage piercing and it was rough. two things i reccomend:

1. buy some small plastic retainers....they are little pieces of flexible plastic with a flatish/round end. trim them to fit the piercing almost exactly, then cover both sides with a good waterproof tape (possibly with a bandaid underneath) This is far, far better than trying to cover the ear with the piercings in. (Note- you can also use good quality fishing line, trim to size, and put a flame to one end for a second till it smolders and makes a bump. Cheaper than retainers)

2. get a headgear like the cliff keen tornado...it makes a bubble around your ear and generally stays in place

also invest in some H2Ocean to spray on right afterwards

That H2Ocean stuff is what my gf uses on her fresh tats.

and TS, don't do it. No amount of BJJ or fighting will make you tough after that. :icon_chee jk

Cauliflower ear will go great with your feminine piercing.
