Do you think the new owners will be open to doing tournaments? Not fight multiple times in a night but over several events.

What weight class would a tournament benefit the most?

What weight class do you want first?

no point

all these american fighters will get injured or get busted by usada

The new owners have not shown one iota of proof that they are old school Pride era fans

They are Dana's agent and love him and gave him a shitload to stay on board for five years at least

Don't expect any creative changes

a 155lb tournament would be the end all be all of MMA.

Followed by 205 (just an opinion i can see why people would see other weights)

We should ask.

I wouldn't be against multiple fights in a night. At least to end a tournament.

If there were tournaments, you'd likely get a different roster of champions and that may create some confusion. I don't think it's going to happen in the UFC, especially if they're pushing even more for mainstream acceptance.

Training for unknown and multiple opponents is very different than using a precision game plan intended to capitalize on another fighters flaws.

Tournament ok but no two fights in the same night sh*t

How the hell would anyone on Sherdog know?

We would need a tournament if Hendo beats Bisping and then retires. At least a 4 man, if not 8. Obviously not in the same night.

Tournaments are shit and have been prove not work except where you have four guys max. Even the flyweight tournament got ficked up.

lol, sale is made and you cans immediately hop back on the ropes, soccer kicks and tournament train.

PRIDE deserves its place on the ash heap. Another org isn't going to morph into the MMA themed pro wrestling you crave. Let it go.

Their matchmaking is resemblant of a tournament at times. There are often #1 vs #2 contender fights. Scheduling works out a lot better when you have big deep divisions and allows for you to account for other variables, such as dominance of performances or demand relevant. It was really when UFC was struggling with talent that their matchmaking of champions often was lacking the linear logic of tournament determined champions and contenders (see Arlovski vs Buentello or Franklin vs Quarry type stuff). You get the occasional Bisping vs Henderson for the buys and the timing of Henderson's historic career coming to a close, RDA vs McGregor for the storyline and buys, Mighty Mouse fighting guys just cause there's no one to fight... but it's mostly real deal top talent fighting relevant top talent.

Would they go 16 or 8 ?
Personally I'd like a 16 man, but I think 8 would be easier to market. You wouldn't have to pull lesser known guys to fill out the brackets and you only have to go across two events instead of 3. I could also see a 7 or 15 man with the current belt holder getting a 1st round bye.

They will go with whatever Dana thinks, could it be possible that Lorenzo was the one against tournaments?

New owners are not going to change shit

not a chance. they are going to be looking to protect their investments, i.e. top fighters. Multiple fights even in a week long event would lead to a ton more injuries. You ever watch the old tournaments, like 1/2 the winners would be injured and out of the next round. One of them, i forget which exactly. even the alternates were injured and they just declared the lone finalist the champion.
