You can read the same story here in the Australian and it is not behind a pay-wall
" Saudi diplomats linked to September 11 terror plot "

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/new...t/news-story/66592c608fb4b63e577c9a3a086c3b43

" New evidence has come to light of a possible link between Saudi Arabian officials and the 9/11 terrorist attacks, further raising tensions as President Obama travels to the kingdom.

Ghassan Al-Sharbi, a Saudi who became an al-Qa’ida bomb maker, is believed to have taken flying lessons with some of the 9/11 hijackers in Arizona but did not take part in the attacks on New York and the Pentagon that killed 3,000 people in 2001.

He was captured in Pakistan in 2002 and has since been held at Guantanamo Bay. According to a US memo — known as document 17 — written in 2003 and quietly declassified last year, the FBI learnt that he had buried a cache of papers shortly before he was captured.

Document 17 was written by two US investigators examining the possible roles of foreign governments in the attacks. One detail leapt out at them from the papers that Sharbi had tried to hide: his US flight certificate was in an envelope from the Saudi embassy in Washington."

New? I thought everyone already knew this.

I'm sure the Obama administration will take bold and decisive action to let the Saudis know that America is strong and we will not stand for this.

This specific revelation (the flight certificate in the Saudi embassy envelope) is breaking news. It was only declassified last year.

Saudis trying to instigate a plot to con their military based ally into gaining territorial control over the middle east after framing other middle eastern countries with major terror attacks so they have more control over a depleting resource.

Shocking.

So here is the question:

Why is this coming out now? If you followed what happened since 9/11 then none of this is shocking.
Is this all in the pretext to war?

To put it crudely the AQ planes operation was done with Saudi money and Iranian intelligence support.

Its been known to the US government for almost 15 years.

So Iran and SA were working together? Source?

Source: John McCain.

throw in Saddam in the mix too.

We know how much Saudis, Saddam and the Iranians loved each other.

A lot of the info was classified or still is classified. The censored 28 pages on the Saudi involvement is still classified .

Here is the 60 mins expose on the 9-11 commission's censored 28 pages

Maybee it is coming out now because some things can only stay covered up for soo long. Maybee because Iran is now back on the scene, the US establishment thinks it can gently turn the screws on the Saudis. Who really knows..

looooooooooooooooooooool
Same Iranians that supported the Northern Alliance (Anti Taliban & AQ Forces in Afghanistan) for years before that?

I find this incredibly suspicious. Graham has been calling for this for years, but this seems to be a coordinated, full-court press now and I don't trust the motivation behind it.

So Iran and SA were working together? Source?

That's what Cruz' advisor has supposedly been claiming (WND is a shit source though, so who knows if she's being accurately quoted). One of the reasons I think all this and the talk about the redacted pages of the 9/11 commission report are just posturing.

They dont have to work directly together. Saudi "charities" have funded jihadists that are/were being supported by Iranian intelligence atleast since Bosnia. Just as with Assads Syria Iran has no problem with supporting and sheltering sunni jihadists when they are striking the far enemy instead of causing trouble at home.

But posturing to what end?

Well, with Trump it's just his regular, vacuous anti-establishment posturing.
Cruz supposedly tied it to Clinton.

If there's a broader foreign policy posturing involved, then it's about threatening the US-Saudi alliance to bring the Saudis to heel.
Either in relation to their support for spreading Salafism (which is inevitably tied to the spread of the Jihadist variety), their overtures to Russia or their expansionist and confrontational behaviour in Yemen.

But there was a logic behind creating turmoil in Iraq, which was for the US to get the fuck out allowing Iran to move in and cleaning house (a move that exploded miserably in their faces)

There is no logic behind Iran helping Saudi or AQ carry out 9-11 attacks, Iran was probably the country that showed the most honest condemnation of the 9-11 attack.

Sanders and Clinton have both signed on to the release of the papers (although knowing Clinton that was a NY primary 9/11 ploy), too.
And while the 'bringing to heel' aspect would make sense, albeit hypocrital with regards to Yemen, I would expect it to be a more deliberate exercise. Now that it has become a big deal, I can't see the genie being put back in the bottle. The documents are going to be declassified and then what? War? And if war, then we would have to put Bush & co. on trial for treason, right?
