From what I understand, a good rule of thumb for when you're out in the wilderness is if it's still water, don't drink. If it's flowing water, it's most likely safe.I remember some years back people were drinking from a natural spring in a mountain where I live and a few people died due to some brain eating bacteria in the water.
Same thing could happen here.
When i lived in the Outback the only water to drink in the area i was staying was bore water. It was beautiful as well, you could taste the minerals in it.
Upon moving to Hawaii I was always skeptical about this survival tip. Worked on the Island of Kauai for a few months, on our days off we would go hiking. I packed a little light on water a few times, so just drank straight from the natural waterfalls on the side of the mountain. Perfectly fine. From what I understand, a good rule of thumb for when you're out in the wilderness is if it's still water, don't drink. If it's flowing water, it's most likely safe.
PT Barnum would be so proud.
There are all sorts of areas where people can get and bottle great fresh water in Canada.I remember some years back people were drinking from a natural spring in a mountain where I live and a few people died due to some brain eating bacteria in the water.
