Never Back down, Best MMA movie ever.

Might as well introduce the other major contender to the thread:

MPW-39889
I liked it. The plot was very strange tho.

I liked that one Donnie Yen movie where he mixes MMA with wirefu and wushu. Was crazy good and used diffent jitz moves in ingenious ways.

Can't remember the name of it.

The one where he is an Asian Cop In Hong Kong. Can't be many of those movies out there.

It was good. But I think Here Comes the Boom takes the cake. Sure it's a B level comedy but it was damn good.

They got the MMA right. It didn't look overly choreographed. Everything was gritty and sloppy just like a real fight. You can tell Kevin was doing real drills and becoming a real fighter through the film and not just doing pretty nonsense.

I like Never back down but that's where it falls short. The fights were too clean, and pretty with flashy moves. It didn't capture MMA in the same way as a comedy.

When I watched HCTB in theater I was actually damn near standing up shadowboxing. Even the scene with them slipping in a wet outdoor cage reminded me of real event I was at. It was so real at times I forgot it was a comedy.

Here Comes the Boom is interesting because it’s a very solid MMA movie. Like if you’re an mma fan, it really stands out- some great cameos, fun references (Chael doing the phantom tap and contesting it), Bas’ presence throughout. But it’s drawback is that it isn’t really funny. There’s some humorous moments but overall it doesn’t really deliver a lot of laughs. Even still, it’s real entertaining.

I agree Never Back Down is pretty good too. Honsou sells the shit out of that trainer character. It follows the Karate Kid template to a fault but that works. Thing that always made me laugh however was that the protagonist gives the bully heel the head nod of mutual hespect at the end, seemingly forgetting that the dude beat the absolute shit out of his friend to the point that the guy had to be hospitalized.

It was silly but I liked it. It was like the o.c mixed with karate kid. The antagonist played a role in o.c and the father of the antagonist was a mix of cringy but hilarious dad trying to be cool while being the " John kreese" of never back down.

His dad was like " if you want to be the best, you have to take out the best"

I assume a young conor stole that line.

That really narrows it down. <45>

Flash Point? that had quite a lot of grappling mixed into the fight scenes.

Warrior is clearly the best MMA movie (assuming we are excluding TMA movies). I did enjoy Never Back Down though.

It's the 'Step Up' of mma movies (which are all crap. Even 'Warrior').

They all stunk, so the bar is very low. I kinda liked the one with the white stripper vs. Cung Le.

All remember of this movie since the 1 time i watched it years ago is that its terrible and I would never willingly watch it again.
