Netflix buys Warner Bros for 72 billion

Surprised this is only two pages long. If this is going to go through I honestly would rather have Netflix get the deal. Isn't Paramount tied with Saudi Arabia. I don't want Saudi money anywhere near this.

Zachary Levi sounds off to provide first hand experience, but doesn't exactly say anything that wasn't already presented.

Netflix walks, handing WBD to Paramount.

IMO - smart move from Netflix. They were going to have to fight US and EU regulators for the next 18 months. Instead, Paramount will have to do all that. If Paramount wins, their prize is to be one of the most highly leveraged takeovers in US corporate history. The joke going around is that Netflix may just end up buying Paramount in a few years when / if they fuck it up.

Feel bad for the people at HBO. 18 months of uncertainty followed by drastic cost cutting.

Lol that can't be real.

Who the hell dreams of working in the coal mines? And if someone does dream of that, who the hell would bother to stop them?
I heard another movie is a trans woman wanting to work on an oil rig while doing part time work cleaning sewers, but nobody will let him...her...them?

You think a tumblerina / tumblerer can just show up on a construction site with half the people being former inmates and the other workers will just trust him when in some cases their life will be in his / her hands...

Do you think they give a fuck about HR?

Blue collar jobs starting out new are not easy for people with the most average looks and political beliefs...

I'm so glad Netflix is out of the running now, it would have been a disaster in several areas.

They have little interest in physical media and theatrical releases, it's antithetical to their business model. WB has the best 4K Blu-ray transfers, would hate to lose them. Theaters are already taking a hit too, and while I don't go as often as I used to (def going to see Project Hail Mary) the missus and I always enjoy a night out when we do.

Entertainment has generally been left leaning for as long as I've been around, but Netflix is on another level when it comes shoving egregious inclusivity into everything. WB's IP's don't need any help in that area.

If Paramount winds up with them, there's no guarantee they'll be better, but surely they can't be as bad lol. Starfleet Academy's reception, which was greenlit before the Ellison's bought the corporation, should put the fear of fail into them. Star Trek was already in the gutter, Academy will only hurt the brand further.

It will be interesting to see what happens with CNN too, crazy times!

I have Paramount now, I was going to cancel at the end of the year. But this might give me a strong incentive to stay. We'll see.
