Benjamin Netanyahu: "He can have peace with Israel or a pact with Hamas - he can't have both"

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas must abandon his pact with Hamas if he wants peace, Israel's PM Benjamin Netanyahu has said in an interview with the BBC.

Israel suspended peace talks with the Palestinians on Thursday in response to a unity deal between Hamas and Fatah.

The decision came after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu chaired a six-hour meeting of Israel's security cabinet.

The Palestinian factions said they would attempt to form a unity government in the coming weeks.

So in order to have "peace" with Israel, Palestinians must keep killing each other. Apparently reconciliation hurts Israel's divide and conquer strategy and must be stopped.

pretty much this, initially the israelis were saying there can be no peace because the palestinians were divided, now there can be no peace because they are united lol.

the palestinians realize the israelis are full of it, so this uniting movement along with a united front going to the UN is their best bet for statehood. this is what bibi really fears.

the israelis have used the peace talks as a chance to steal additional land, there is no more clear sign that they don't want peace than steal additional lands. it's just cut and dry. bibi taked these talks from the start. anyone who doesn't admit it is delusional or a liar.

Obviously a mentally challenged individual. Do not and I repeat do not let contradicting forces lead you or perish. :icon_chee

It's hard for you to understand that part of the Palestinians (PLO) can be worked with and the other part (HAMAS) can't. The Hamas is not even willing to negotiate a peace agreement.

Liberals gonna liberal again.

Of course, you can't land grab as easily while the other side isn't fighting amongst themselves. Wasn't Israel complaining a few years back that Hamas won't abide by whatever deal was made with Fatah, thus peace can't be negotiated? Now you have a united entity to negotiate with, and still you throw lame excuses.

Just remember. The Arabs can take defeat many times, and will fight again sooner or later. Israel on the other hand, can't afford the same.

Nicky, I'm saying this is a friend...

stay away from this thread...You know all topics regarding Israeli make you lose your $hit...you are going to end up insulting someone and they are going to report you.

Seeing how you are on Dubbs...that would be it.

In a vacuum, the comment actually makes sense. Hamas says there will be no peace with Israel, they want them gone from the land. That is the end goal. How can you negotiate with a group like that?

Of course, this isn't a vacuum, and you can find Bibi quotes which state that he wont negotiate with the Palestinians because they are divided... and now won't negotiate with the Palestinians if they are united... kinda seems like he won't negotiate, no?

The Fatah and Hamas can't make peace between themselves. You know that. It's evident in the whole Arab/Muslim world.

How can two parts that don't agree make peace with Israel?

As for your last paragraph, It's a joke. The arab world is weaker today than it ever was. Divided by wars within. If they bring it, they will have it just like every time in the last +60 years.

You can clearly tell by just looking at the guy he is not trustworthy all his features equate to corruption. I would appoint a more educated and true servant to bring order to the region.

Hard to make peace when Israel kept up its land grabs. You don't say you want peace, while keep robbing the other side. You won't negotiate when they were divided, and now you won't negotiate when they reconciled.

The Arabs may be weak, but it won't stay that way forever. Israel's existence depends on always achieving victory. As we all know, even the greatest will lose sometime. You're a country of 7 million sitting in a region of 400 million Arabs. Good luck to you in the future in case you don't settle for what you have now.

Had a surrogate make the daily cry bout Israel thread?

Why the fixation?

This thread is stupid.

Why would Israel negotiate with Hamas when one of their stated objectives is the end of Israel? Seems perfectly logical to me on Netanyahu's part.

i'm not worried about, i think this is a positive situation, the peace talks were a mistake, the palestinians only hope lies with unity and going to the un. plus i'm in a good mood today.

pretty much, the only group who was willing to negotiate was abbas' pa.

israel is going to be completely isolated and more and more americans are turning on them, even the obama admin wants nothing to do with them. they threw kerry out there and thats that. kerry is now blaming israel for the break down, and the boycott is going to take off.

the palestinians are going to the un, this is a better outcome than shooting rockets.

btw when the muslims get nukes, and it's only a matter of time, israel is going to be in some serious trouble for how they have treated the entire region.

well, at the same time, why would hamas negotiate with israel when too many times israeli leaders have said they are going to steal the rest of palestine? likud runs the country man, learn about their goals prior to posting next time.

also, this isn't as though israel decided not to negotiate because of hamas, the palestinians realized israel had no intention of getting a deal done, they are just using the talks to steal more land, so THEY are the ones who ended the talks, not just by going to hamas, but by going to the un and signing onto different groups.

they realized when israel decided to steal land during the negotiations that they were a total joke. so this nonsense that bibi has ended the talks over hamas, it's not true. there were never talks to begin with because bibi had no intention of there being peace.

not sure what the problems is with this

he's right...
if the palestinians kill each other off
there will be no insurgents

Which kind of makes me wonder if Hamas and the PA will actually be able to make a unity government.

gaza can barely keep electricity on so i think hamas will be open, further, i think they have to look at the situation and see that if you compare their lame rocket attacks that destroy nothing to abbas getting palestine recognized by the unga and other groups. abbas' way seems to be working much better.

plus international opinion is more against israel than ever before. obama wants nothing to do with bibi, neither does the rest of the world, and he's going to be in power over there for some time.
