Need some awesome sci-fi movies to watch.

I loved the concept of Annihilation, just wish it was done better, story wise. I still enjoyed it.

Slipstream with Anthony Hopkins is a movie I've literally never heard anyone mention. Would be a great movie to watch tripping.

Arrival. Thoughtful, slow. No action shooting and dramatic shouting.

Contact. You know it.
Arrival is damn awful. Clichés all over the place. Usa good, china and russia bad. Military bad. Men dumb. Woman smart.

Your right it's dumb and awful. How could I have been so stupid as to not have that opinion? Thank you for correcting me.

Story is great overall, at least the concept behind it but let me explain myself better then beyond the USA good and China, Russia evil.

Why would a military force attack using explosives and smallarms a super advanced aliens capable of time travel technology and telepathy? It makes no sense as it is suicide. Worse, the military personel that orchestrated the whole attack were high ranked officers. They're supposed to be thinkers. Not much thought went into using archaic weapons against something that may very well obliterate you in an eye blink.

Another ludicrous thing was the language professor being able to learn the alien language no problem and the mathematician failing to understand anything (he's pretty much useless). Wooooooooord. Cause IRL if humans make contact they're gonna send the humanities department lol

A man struggles with memories of his past, which includes a wife he cannot remember, and a nightmarish world without a sun.

Holy fuck dude. I was thinking about this thread while eating and thought. Shit what about dark City.

I'll second this recommendation!

It's a solid thought provoking movie that often seems to fly underneath the radar (for whatever reasons). Perhaps it's the darker tone the movie takes on? It's a bit hard to get into and process perhaps (due to the oddness), somewhat like "12 Monkeys"? IDK.

Anyway, side note: Jennifer Connelly is one of the GOAT actresses. Her involvement in anything usually piques my interest.
