Okay, i have a Underarmour Heatgear compression shorts with mesh cup pockets, and im thinking of just snugging the steel cup right in the pocket..

Is there any good steel cups ? or are they all generally the same?

There was recently a negative review of the Title steel cup, something to do with a air bubble. I suggest getting a Thai Brand steel cup (fairtex, boon...) since they are all pretty much the same.

The sizing is not the length of string, but the cup dimensions and they run small.

Kind-of-related

Is the cup supposed to push on my thighs when I stand with my legs close together, or do I have it too low? And is it supposed to show as a huge bulge on the front of my shorts :icon_lol:

.....is that a serious question? LOL......
the bulge unless u have small soldiers then i think not.... :P

Great, getting advice about a cup from the guy that doesn't have a cup.
Not normal, but on Sherdog it is :icon_lol:

But seriously though, I don't understand what you mean?

I was always taught it has to do with genital size and not weight/height? i could be wrong, but I am currently using the Boon and it works great.

I use a Fairtex cup under my Bad Boy compression shorts. Doesn't move or anything like that, just perfect.

do you tie it around your waist? or just slip in into the pocket?

i dont want the string running up the buttcrak so i figured i could just slip it into my compression shorts. if needed to avoid slipping just tie it around the waist and cut the string below

I use this:

Takes a bit of getting used to though and a few stares but you get past the haters.

I read about that "air bubble" issue and thought to myself, "Meh, he'll get over it."

I have one of the Title cups myself, and the foam lining that bubbled up on that guy's cup wasn't gonna last long anyway. The lining in mine has worn away a little bit with each use, and now is almost completely gone.

I don't consider it a defect in the product. The lining was just an added feature that wasn't necessary in the first place, and the loss of it doesn't affect the cup's performance at all. My Title cup is now just like every other steel cup on the market: bare steel on teh junk.

Props to Wes Wasmer for offering to replace it for the guy, though.

hey just wondering if the strings are removable? or would it need to be trimmed off? :S

The strings can be slid out of my cup through the holes they're in.

let's be honest here, the only real differences between these steel cups on the market are that they have different pictures on them and they cost different than each other. buy one from a brand that you trust. i have two, one from title mma that is just a regular steel cup that i took the laces out of and dropped it into a jock supporter and the other one is from ring to cage that has the supporter attached to it instead of strings just like this (Muay Thai Men's Supporter with Steel Cup) i am just waiting for it to arrive in the mail.

things to know about steel cups:

they are uncomfortable and take getting used to.
while getting used to it, you may get bruising on your thighs if you use it during jiu jitsu or sub wrestling or mma.
once you get used to it it's like it is not even there.
there are ones out there that cost ten bucks, there are ones out there that cost almost fifty bucks shipped. pay what you want and support the brands that you trust and like.

also, if you are taller than 5 feet be sure to get a large/xl size or else you will have a cup size for a child or small man.

odds are they are all made at the same factory anyway.

In all seriousness I've wondered about this. When I was first looking for a cup I was in Sports Authority and the only cups they had in the adult sizes were McDavid cups size Large. You could eat soup out of this thing.

I'm a realist; I'm not a big guy, I'm 5'8", and I'm not overly graced by God in the pants like Ron Jeremey. And I'll ever go further to admit that yeah, I'm a grower not a shower. WTF do I need all of this baggage for in cups??

I wanted to get the kids large size: it was smaller (obviously), less bulkier, and still seemed like it would give me total coverage. I wanted to get that and my GF was vehemently like "No, you're an idiot. Get the one made for for age/size." Dame thing is massive.
