Everyone knows about the seniors Alford and Hamilton and the freshmen ball and leaf, but the real difference makers are the bench. I don't know if you remember, but a few years ago, it was either against FSU or Miami, I can't remember. But it was definitely at Florida, the year one of those 2 teams did well. They were losing, the game was almost over, like 10 secs left. Roy literally pulls all the starters, puts in the bench and ends the game early. He walks off to go shake the other coach's hands and takes the starters with him with 10 secs left. All while under a timeout. When they finally resumed play and the game was over, ole Roy was long gone. Some say that bench is still in Florida. Holy shit was that funny.

I've peeked into a UNC practice. they were just throwing balls up and having all the players jump and try and get them. They did that for an hour, then they just ran down the court as fast as they could, sometimes with the ball, sometimes not. Roy was foaming at the mouth he entire time.

Yeah I've heard that he's a much better recruiter than a coach
And a lot of recruitment is just reputation, so it's a positive feedback process

Plus because their school is bigger their players never play hoops with lowly students
At duke certain dudes can be found at Card during the summer or during the offseason playing basketball, and they'll let you play if you're halfway decent
