Nah, fubotv and I’m sure other streaming platforms in settings has a checked box about sending your viewing habitats to nielson
oh, that's new to me. yeah i was just thinking if nielsen was still the only way to get ratings, then people just streaming the games wouldn't count

ratings are only used with the Nielsen box, correct?
Does Nielsen not track ESPN, ABC?

Regardless, ratings are being tracked somehow and they've been hemorrhaging since 2012

In a piece published in the Athletic last week, Ethan Strauss reported that the ratings for network NBA broadcasts have declined by 45 percent since 2011–12. Games on TNT are also down by more than 40 percent, while ESPN’s ratings have gone down roughly 20 percent. And despite predictions that ratings for the league’s “bubble” games would soar, they’ve actually been lower than those for pre-bubble games. “Big trends tend to result from multiple factors,” Strauss wrote. Among the ones he cited: that players, coaches, and broadcasters have been highly critical of the United States and its government while remaining mostly silent about China.

And iirc the new TV deal is up in 2025. Interesting times ahead, I wonder if players would be cool with the required deflated max/min contracts of a dramatically reduced salary cap

How is online viewership being tracked?

I doubt illegal streams show up in ratings lol

But the issue isn't whether people are still watching via new tech, the issue is the decline of people actually paying to watch games. NBA can't just add an estimated figure to the cap for illegally streamed games lmao

Now baseball teams are considering canceling. Some white conservatives still watch baseball so that might actually ruffle some feathers.

Didn’t the reds already cancel

The whole evening was planned. Now RUiNeD!
I was going to colorado strip for the game then back to my place for the after party, now what??!
Now the Astros game is cancelled too. Everything is also closing here early too because of the fear of some hurricane 200miles awy from HOU. Smh!!

I thought basebol was already dying but I guess they need to off themselves even faster
