Haha yeah Lyles went for the chokeslam set up, Undertaker style, but quickly realized that's not so easy with one of the biggest guys to play the game in the last decade.

The nba is already rigged bud, it didn't stop
after Donaghy did lol

stern renegotiated the tv deals before that information went public, the nba has influenced games since forever. Whether it's for story lines or crack.

My opinions on this are complicated. There's a lot more smoke around the NBA than the NFL for sure. My stance has been refs are human and have biases and agendas that are almost impossible to detect. Even in the case of that guy who hates Chris Paul he can just deny it and say it's a coincidence and there's really no way to prove he's lying.

While the NBA has shown blatant favortism towards the Lakers/Celtics from a promotional standpoint I think that's more them catering to boomers who say stupid boomer things like "the NBA was on tape delay in the 70s when there was parity and Lakers/Celtics domination saved the NBA because fans hate parity". I don't think they've rigged things for them and think in 02 that was the refs individual bias. If the Lakers win this year I'd have to reevaluate that opinion. The Lakers were supposed to be roadkill this year.

Thing with sus calls is there's nothing linking a refs actions to the NBA. They could have their own bias or agenda from years of interacting with players.

I don't think see the NBAs agenda in Heat>Mavs the same way I do with the Lakers where David Sterm actually said "my preferred finals is Lakers v Lakers"(if Roger Goodell said this about the Patriots he'd be gone in 24 hours).

They have plausible deniability. They have an oversight committee that does nothing. Ever. Refs just need a friend to bet for them. Scott Foster was questioned by the FBI and the dropped it competely once Donaghy copped to betting. The entire referee ring is a gambling racket lol

The thing is if this is true it's impossible to tell who the refs have money on and what their agenda is. It'd be somewhat random like an odorless gas.

The Stern Donaghy thing gave me the impression the NBA doesn't want to know if other Donaghys exist. But I do not think they are aiding and abetting those refs. I think more commonly refs have non financial agendas. Maybe player X cursed ref Y out once maybe player Z fucked ref Cs girl shit like that. Subconcious bias is a thing and refs have had long careers in which they have to have developed strong opinions about all sorts of players and it has to impact their officiating on some level.

NBA definitely influences games, just like the nfl they assign referee crews that statistically have a higher chance to call certain fouls. It's not even debatable in my eyes. They aren't stupid and they're entertainment and want to make money, the only difference between pro sports and pro wrestling is the wrestlers are in on it.
