How can you blame anyone for taking 100m

There are a lot of NBA players, athletes in general, that have taken less money to try to actually win. I think most, if not all of Jordan's career he was never the highest player in the league even though he was the best player in the league. Pippen sure as hell took less than he could have. Dirk at one point took something like a 70 million dollar pay cut to try to stay in Dallas and win. There are many examples of guys taking less money in an attempt to win man. Carmelo Anthony is taking the vet minimum in L.A. right now and making only 2 million a year.

I'm sure the Mavs are offering Brunson 80ish? I say that because they could have resigned him for 55 million during the season but didn't. So he could take 80ish and a chance to win every year or take 100 on a team that hasn't even made it to the Conference Finals in decades.

You named a bunch of dudes who already had gotten paid before. You won't see that from a second round pick who hasn't even made 10 million in career earnings up until this point. The Mavs have no reason other than Cuban being cheap on the luxury tax for why they aren't matching or coming close to what the knicks are offering.

Also, lets be real the Mavs have about the same chance of winning the title as the Knicks do. lmao

Mavs are in a tough spot because Cuban thinks he is way smarter than he is and is too involved and I don't think free agents want to play for him. They were immediately too good with Luka to repeat tank, and they have just ok level role players. Now they are in a bad spot with Brunson because he shoots good percentages and fits with Luka's game... but the crazy and let's be honest, pathetic Knicks went all in on him.

Either hand cuff yourself to a terrible contract or lose him for nothing. Cuban really should have secured him before he became an RFA at a reasonable rate given his career shooting averages are 50/37/80... Oh well, Cuban gonna Cuban, and Knicks gonna Knick.

Sad times for everyone except the Brunson family!

You act like the Mavericks are offering zero. I'm guessing they are offering in the 80 million range. I would rather play on a team that just went to the conference finals for 80 million than a team that hasn't been to a conference finals in 20 years for 110 million.

Can't the Mavs pay him the most? Blame your owner not the player.

20m is still a lot of money

I agree, this is the Mavs fault. Should have signed him for 55 million, now they should offer him the same as the Knicks, which is actually not as bad because the Knicks are probably offering 110 over 4 years. Mavericks can offer the same contract but spread it out over 5 years. So yea, the Mavericks probably have nobody else but themselves to blame for this. Sucks, lose one of your best players, or pay him more than he's worth. Shitty situation.

Brunson is not worth nearly 30 mill per year. But hey, if the Knicks give him that contract, they may become the 7th seed in the East!

Knicks are obsessed with signing Brunson. They are either going to fuck themselves over or make the Mavs pay big and fuck the Mavs over but one way or another, they INSIST someone is getting an overpriced contract.

spurs just finessed the fuck out of the hawks. gave us 3 first rounders & a first round swap for a slow guard who can’t shoot. imagine that.

Spurs should tank this year and get their building block in Webanyama. Other rebuilds in the league are looking to take off and should hit 30+ wins. Its time.
that’s the plan hopefully. i still would like to see us acquire lavine if possible but yeah, murray was not good enough to build a team around & we got a shitload in return for him

Spurs are in full tank mode and probably have the worst roster in the NBA. No chance in hell they get Lavine lmao

What position do you play?
wow a revolver post that doesn’t start with “lmao @“

never heard a fan of a sports team refer to said favorite team with “us” or “we” before? that’s fair. sorry for confusing you. i, in fact, don’t play for the San Antonio Spurs.

Yes of course I’ve heard it and it’s lame.
