Arthur Jones will be the Republican nominee for the 3rd congressional district in Illinois. He will be unopposed in the primary, so hes got it. The actual republican party isnt too happy about the whole thing.

What should the republican party do to prevent things like this from happening? Nazis arent too popular.

Jones told the Sun-Times he is a former leader of the American Nazi Party and now heads a group called the America First Committee. “Membership in this organization is open to any white American citizen of European, non-Jewish descent,” he said.

Tim Schneider, chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, said in a statement to the Sun-Times, “The Illinois Republican Party and our country have no place for Nazis like Arthur Jones. We strongly oppose his racist views and his candidacy for any public office, including the 3rd Congressional District.”

Was the original America first movement of the 1930s that included Charles Lindburgh affiliated or sympatized with Nazi Germany? Or are they really anti-Semetic?

He's a retired insurance agent on top of it all, too.

Just shows how flawed the American democratic system truly is, when a political party doesn't even bother to put up nominees for a dead-end election. That's the real news here, not so much the Nazi who merely highlights the absurdity of the situation.

The two-party system is a real killer of any proper political competition.

I thought they were all nazis?
No big deal, apparently.

Opportunity for anyone with some time on their hands to run and oppose him. You're pretty much guaranteed to win.

Raise a few hundred bucks for a radio ad. "Hi, I'm so and so, candidate for office. I'm also not a nazi. This is my wife and my family, who are also not nazis. Vote for me. "

Book it, done.

Seems like a civic duty at this point to do just that

What Nazi joins the Republican Party?
You would be more likely to join the Green Party before those guys.

I think that guy is more of white supremacists or antisemite.
Or he doesn't understand what the Nazi's were.
From all democratic Parties, the Republicans are probably the furthest from a National Socialist agenda.

FAKE NEWS!!
We know it's the Democrats who are the racists because the KKK was originally Democrat.

NAZI = National SOCIALIST ! . Socialist = Democrats
Checkmate liberals !

Yet Nazis always seem to gravitate towards the republican party. How weird.

Their primary concern is their white genocide crap rather than national socialism, so they tend to support the more xenophobic party.

Not really, he's running against either an incumbent or the Dem who is challenging him in the primary.

Shocked a Nazi was a republican.

They are probably more white supremacists or what they call Neo Nazi's.
Otherwise, the republican party is in direct conflict with Nazism.

Yeah, I think that's the case also not a high standard of journalism calling that guy a Nazi.
Just because it gets more clicks if it is in the headline.

Well he is literally the former leader of the American Nazi Party, so it's perfectly fair to call him a Nazi. But anyway the Chicago Sun Times article headline, from the OP, calls him a Holocaust denier rather than a Nazi.

You know what's kinda messed up? Illinois is gerrymandered to high hell by the Democrats, and this is one of the districts that will always turn out red. A shitty candidate like this with no contest isn't by coincidence, it's by design.

This district doesn't seem bad as far as gerrymandering goes. Plus, if they were really gerrymandering an already highly democratic district, it would be for one of two reasons- to solidify a minority seat, or to dilute Republican votes in other districts by arbitrarily grabbing a bunch of Republican voters and stuffing them into one where their vote doesn't matter.
