I can't believe Dana said this fight makes sense. Why do they even have rankings? This win shouldn't leven leapfrog Nate over the other contenders at lightweight, not to mention he got his ass whooped by RDA not that long ago.

Dana also keeps selling conor vs nate as a welterweight fight. They were 2 lw's agreeing not to cut. Nate should come out and say what he weighed on fight night. I doubt there was more than 5 pounds between them. Conor fought the nr 5 lw, who came in on 11 days notice, out of shape, unprepared, and got slapped around, outboxed and choked out.

Have nate fight eddie alvarez or the loser of khabib/ferguson.

People would watch therefore it makes sense

it makes sense for me the mcgregor vs lawler fight woulda made less sence imo but since that made sence and they were setting it up now this absaloutley makes sence

It might not make sense from a rankings perspective but now is the time to capitalize on Nate's popularity. GSP is the only WW that could generate more buys at this point in time.

what you fail to realize is the ufc was selling gregor as the best fighter in the ufc p4p period they were pushing it pushing ratings and milking it imagine if gregor won then beat lawler before he woulda even faught lawler you woulda ben the guy buying into it

Came here bcoz of your thread title then I read this. More excuses please.

Lawler / nick diaz is the fight i want to see again. Nate and conor fought at ww but i see them as lw's that didnt cut aswell. Thats what it was anyway.

Holy crap is that hard to read. Punctuation and capitalization are forum friends.

I mean they might as well get rid of the rankings at this point and let fans vote for the fights they want to see

Nate vs. Lawler erases all semblance the UFC had of being a structured sports organization. Why not let CM Punk debut against BJ Penn while we're at it. Rankings apparently don't mean anything anymore.

I am sure dana has some angle to it but it makes no sense for nate to beat the 145lb champ and be offered an immediate 170 champ.
I guess Dana trying to kill nate off

I have zero interest in that fight. Its such a stupid fight that it almost seems like punishment. Are fans even interested in this?

Ive said it before... Despite being the perfect Guy to handle fighters....Dana makes some of the dumbest decisions and has terrible foresight. He initially opposed some of the best decisions the UFC has made over the last decade.

It doesn't make sense from a legitimate sport point of view. From a sport entertainment point of view it makes perfect sense. All the UFC cares about are what fights sell the most ppvs but can still be sanctioned by the athletic commission.

The fight is awesome lets see it dont be a jabroni

I really don't think that's the case. I never heard Dana or any other UFC personality say that McGregor was the best fighter in the UFC, and Dana has said that about many fighters before. All they were really doing was riding the wave of his popularity and allowing him to move up and fight champions because it would be cool to see if he can pull it off and make millions at the same time.

Throw a top WW contender at Lawler... please
keep Robbie in shape for GSP's return

Nate is a 55er
got rag dolled at 170
