Ok guys, looking at that choke out at the end...

I don't care what you think about the fight, the fighers or anything else, looking ONLY at the choke out and the way they were positioned...was there anyway Conor had to get out?

If he rolled right, left? If he moved his hips up or out?

His basic moves locked him up more that I can see so people more skilled in BJJ, how do you actually escape that? Flex up or scrawl? I really don't know.

Answer the phone... Both his hands were free.

Just push up. Anything but lay there and let him wrap his arm around your neck...

Look at his left hand, he definitely could have used that to prevent Nate from locking his own left hand just by thrusting it forward. Then he could've tried to peel off Nate's right arm with his right hand.

Instead he just laid his hands on the mat and used them to tap after the choke was locked, but did nothing with them prior lol..

Roll right hard maybe? I don't see what your saying at all and answer the phone, lawl

I hate saying any fighter is scared or gave up, I think its crap. But in this case...he had no position on his hands and arms, nothing with his legs...

I would swear its as if he just stopped fighting at this point (before the choke) but I may be missing something here...

Ok easy fix here: Don't get caught in this position in the first place.

Why are his hands just resting on the mat instead of trying to get in the way of the choke? He clearly has openings.

Maybe try a hip escape instead of rolling onto your belly though in the first place. If you're on your belly with Nate Diaz on top of you, unless you're a high level black belt you're probably fucked, even if you defend the choke a while. He'll get you eventually.

emotionally, mentally or physically? A fight is more than just "don't lose brah"

Are you saying he lost before the fight perhaps?

Did he win until that choke but during that choke he made a BJJ mistake? Which one? Roll out, which way, how to elevate? which thrust? where do his hands go and legs? emotions took over or was it muscle memory that never took over?

Care to elaborate?

He tried powerful open-hand hits to Nate's forearm but it was confused for a tap.

He could have answered the phone...

What do you do when you answer the phone? You bring your hand to your ear with the phone right?...Not that hard buddy keep up

lol I know what I means my man. Didn't need training, that is a Joe manuever. Doing something during rolling is very different. I think you are repeating something you heard. What do you do with your hips and how do you position your thrust when you answer said phone?

Do you think he lost before he hit the ground then? Or do you think it was a lack of BJJ?

I think he shot a double knowing he was done. He was super done after that ground and pound.

I think he just gave up and wanted to get subbed instead of KO'd.

I see him try to grab Nates right fist (the choking arm) but he gets hit again and his face literally is punched into the choke. Nate punched his face with his left into his right arm RNC and cinched it.

Yes people keep saying this. What about his legs and feet? His hips?

Are people parroting here? So he brings his hand up to his ear and maybe even twists...but what? where can he twist with Nate on top? That is the entire point.

Regardless of hips or anything else you asked how he could have prevented the choke, stop laying on you're fucking hands. This guy was his own worst enemy

Excellent!

Bravo!

srs...best reply yet. You have any bjj experience? He attempted a move there. Do you know it by chance?

There was a fundemental issue with BJJ in that exchange. One man had a clear and Superior edge. One was shown as far less. No hate. I just wonder that if and when you fail the turn over if there is a way to recover and I don't know that there is.

Once that left hand went under the neck it was over with.

A bjj brown belt should know not to give up his back. That disturbs me more than anything else. A bjj practitioner knows his best opportunity is when his opponent feels safe and an opponent usually feels safe raining down strikes from inside the guard.

I do..but im not great. I dont have a rank but have rolled with a lot of people and actually my TMA instructor was teaching us BJJ in '96. He just liked it.

The move your talking about. McGregor? The defense is 2 hands on the choke arm...or phone booth. Also if given the choice, Id flip over from the face crushing strikes and try to defend the RNC any day. Not a hard decision. Try to defend this arm or keep getting punched directly in the face from a opponent with total leverage.

Also, Nate took Conor down in the first. So interesting how there is zero reference to that exchange on Sherdog.
