Nate Quarry Interview: Explains UFC lawsuit

Anthony Joshua is defending his belt tonight lol. Just because there are freak boxing fights people want to see, doesn't mean that's the only boxing people are watching. MMA wishes it could be popular enough for celebs to throw MMA fights. Instead we get CM Punk
Guess you didn’t realize his fight is already over.....

Nate is an idiot. Everyone knows the UFC is not like the boxing model. By the way, where’s boxing now? Look at the ridiculous shows they’re doing: Mayweather vs Paul, Old Tyson vs Old Roy Jones. Complete fucking joke.
Adding Acts, unions, and all that other shit just fragments the system and makes it more difficult to conduct business. Do you as a consumer actually think the price you pay for a PPV to go down if all that is implemented? You’d have to be the dumbest of the dumb to think so.

Don’t like the contract? Don’t fucking sign it. Go somewhere else to fight, start up your own organization, or find a different career.
Boxing failed because boxing is boring and MMA is exciting. You sound like the idiot, saying “start your own organization”.... that’s like saying if someone doesn’t like Facebook, “just start your own website bro”

I figured I at least wouldn’t tell you the result.....
ESPN already ruined it for me low key, but I'll still watch to see how Joshua looked. I want to see him and Fury box finally if Joshua looks like his dominant self outside of those Ruiz fights

It's a nice sentiment that fighters should get paid based on merit rather than popularity, because it would be a great incentive for fighters to hone their skills, but there's not really a market for MMA that would work like that.
I'd agree that the larger fan base is purely entertainment focused, and they could give a shit what MMA actually is, as long as it's the silver platter to serve their WWE storylines with cage-filled violence on, but I don't see how the sport would operate any differently. The same cards would be put on, and people would tune in the same, but there'd be a better consistency and spread of pay, and it would be done so in a way that encourages success in the cage. I don't think how fighter A gets paid affects if Fan B tunes in or not. Plus you'd get a lot more retention of lower level fighters who want to get paid.

Smart post, and I think your take is pretty balanced overall. I agree fighters should be paid more and treated better, and I also agree that fighters having too much power can hurt the sport.
Boxing has ALWAYS been a perfect example for the ways MMA should and shouldn't go. The blueprints have been there for years, and yet it's never really walked the right path. If it goes down the black hole that boxing's in now or carefully crafted opponent selection, I don't think I'll keep up with it anymore, cuz any result is just inherently worthless.

-Arguments that without the Ali Act the UFC can give the fans “what they want” are invalid, the UFC decides to push potential “stars” who most of the time fall flat on their face, argues it’s best to let the sport and fighters develop organically
-Says some press are afraid to cover this story because they want to be on good terms with Dana and be invited to UFC media events.

This is the key of why the UFC doesn't want the Ali act; The UFC wants to keep the pay rate to a small amount to keep fighters "starved" and have all the leverage with them including any push or title shot. That's why guys like Chimaev are getting pushed hard, because they see him as a way to draw money in certain places.

I didn’t even realize he was fighting today.......

Not the biggest fight but yeah, a fury or wilder fight would be big.

Try and catch shakur tonight too.

They don’t want the Ali act because it forces sanctioning bodies into the sport and gives them power, basically destroying the ufc as a closed system. At least as written (and it’s written specifically for boxing, which already had sanctioning bodies).

It really needs a complete re-write to be applicable for mma, and even then doesn’t apply outside the US.

Nate Quarry Jesus.. havent heard tjay name in awhile...

How about you go get your fucking shinebox

Harsh truth is the low pay and UFC monopoly are the reason the UFC is able to get big fights made on a more regular basis than boxing, and put together deeper cards. The moment you have to start forking out millions to get any top 10 level guys to face each other is the moment MMA truly goes to shit.

If the UFC was only paying fighters 3 cents to the dollar some years post TUF that is beyond fucked

Yeah the sinical Dana fan boy really need to relax a little. So one sided and bias it's hilarious. You'd think Dana wrote it himself.

"Boxing's Dead. What? Grandpa Tyson and Jake Paul?? Boxing's biggest stars dude... that will happen in the UFC if we give fighters more money I swears."

"Don't like it? Then do the next best logical thing..just go and start your own MMA ORG ya big goof! You just need an arena and a company banner to hang up...probelm solved my guy'

Fact is Dana and his cohorts are nothing but abusers who eat the lions share whilst fighters tear the flesh of each other for peanuts lol. It's a business tactic but you starve your workers so they always need you. Like a pimp with his hoes. Why do you think most major corps offer minimum wage. High employee rates means they don't need a revolving door. Recruitment is expensive in both time and money.

Fighters also wouldn't need to fight as much (having money in the pockets) allowing them to prepare more thoroughly (imo higher quality fights) (longer time to prepare and not having to work at Costa Coffee) for an opponent as we see in boxing.

But let's face it. That is not reality. Ppv is dead and Dana just tryna hit his event quota for ESPN so he can get paid.
The amount of events he's put on this year with covid is amazing. You can't do that without having a roster who are willing to put themselves on harm's way at the drop of a dime for simply just a promise of a better future with the UFC... Maybe one of them "backroom bonuses' lol a BJ from a ring card girl or whatever

That's also why Ill always respect McGregor... he came in and demanded his worth whilst all these other fighters acted like some upset hoes when he called them out on it. Laughing at their accepted pay cheques etc and say what you want I'm sure Dana respects Conor because he stands up for himself alot more than all his other hoes who just say "yes uncle Dana how high?"

exactly. I believe he even called out Chad Mendes for fighting him while he was still on his old shit contract right in front of Dana at a press conference. Conor even tried going to the higher ups at Disney to go past Dana for a new fight this year lol
