Nate Diaz submitting Ryan Hall

Maia tapped Mir about 8 times in a row when he came and trained at kobra kai

Id say he is pretty damn good

perfect example as to why heavyweights suck at BJJ

like they're all hyping up Werdum bc he tapped Big nog...so did mir and he gets dominated by Maia

Most big guys don't learn technique. It's all just overpowering bjj. Werdum does have skills but other guys in Heavyweight don't so he isn't tapping anyone good

Sucks is a bit of a stretch.

Maia is just that good. It's not like any other 85ers around were doing the same to Mir.

Who's the best bjj guy that nate has fought and beat?

Jim Miller, Kurt Pellegrino, Junior Assuncao and Alvin Robinson are all legit as fuck BJJ black belts. Nate subbed them all.

In fact Nate's triangle on Pellegrino was so sweet, Nate had time to showboat and do his double bicep flex before Pellegrino tapped.

I'm not the biggest Nate fan, but there is no denying he has great jiu-jitsu. Not the modern sport gi or no-gi games, but tried and true fundamental BJJ for fighting.

I was probably a little hyperbolic but when it comes to skills you can't compare them.

And I agree, Maia is the best grappler in MMA

To suggest Nate is still a top jiu jitsu talent is goofy though. He'd lose to nearly every guy his weight at black belt in an ADCC/IBJJF format.

This is true but modern sport grappling is far, far removed from jiu-jitsu for fighting. I am sure Nate does not give a fuck about lapel guards or the current leg lock meta-game.

You're claiming HWs rely on power over technique, and that somehow lessens your accomplishments?
Then how can you gloss over Nate being much bigger than Hall? Strength, and using leverage correctly is a skill, not some type of cheat code.

He tapped out the 3 most successful HW grapplers of his era. Big Nog was done, no argument here, but you're saying Cain and Fedor are somehow not really quality scalps?
Face it, by any and all metrics you could use to assess the quality of one's jiu jitsu, there are plenty of guys who are above Nate Diaz.
I have a feeling you're just fucking with us at this point

For sure. They (Diaz bros) trained jiu jitsu as a martial art to defeat other styles of martial arts. Jiu jitsu that defeats wrestling. Or boxing. Or karate.

Sport jiu jitsu (ADCC,IBJJF,EBI,SUG etc.) is essentially jiu jitsu designed to defeat jiu jitsu. Ironically, the sport jits would be a very flawed style to use in a street fight when compared to OG jiu jitsu that was meant to be a stand alone art.

yes I'm saying Cain and Fedor aren't elite BJJ guys. ESpecially cain lol

Who is the best guy Fedor tapped?

Nate Diaz is one hell of a fighter. His ground game is amazing and hes so damn tough.. great boxing skills and just an all around badass.

Even the fights hes lost, they're decisions where time ran out, and in none of them was he not "in the fight".

Bendo, Rda, and Masvidal were the worst. He legit got his ass kicked in those.. but man he still was throwing heat and dangerous. Rory and Josh Thomson had him beat. But shit happens hes fought basically nothing but elite guys for so many years... like a decade. Hes awesome, one of my favorites.

That first Conor fight really proved that if you just throw down with him.. it doesnt matter who you are.. its gonna be a dog fight.. the best way to beat Nate is have a really great gameplan to expose his weak points and avoid the brawl and submission game. Which has proven to be possible,

again, he never tapped a real black belt in MMA

And Heavyweights aren't as good at BJJ as the little guys. Nate is better in MMA at BJJ
LOL you're delusional if you think Nate BJJ is anywhere near Werdum level. Fabricio eats black belts like Nate Diaz for breakfast.

At that point Ryan had only started BJJ 3 year before, whereas Nate had been doing it for 7 (so more than twice as long).

It took Nate 12 year to get his black belt.
It took Ryan 6 years (so half as long).

Ryan has a list of BJJ accolades, Nate doesn't.

While Nate is much bigger than Ryan, if they fought mma today, Ryan would win, and if they competed in BJJ, Nate woud get embarrassed.
Wait...you think Ryan Hall would beat Nate Diaz in an MMA fight? That's ridiculous.

So? They were both top 3 fighters in MMA, and both were never tapped by anyone else before or since.
They both used grappling predominantly in their primes.

Nate never tapped out someone on par with Cain V or Fedor in terms of MMA competition. Its almost like...
He's more than just a jiu jitsu guy, as are most fighters. The Maias, Werdums, and Jacares were still jiu jitsu specialists, especially by north American MMA standards.
I don't count it against Nate that he was well rounded, just like I don't count it against Fedor or Cain.

Hall started a bit late in life and still became a master. But goes to show how good Nate Diaz is

your entire MMA and BJJ knowledge is consists of reading Wikipedia and fighters records. you have zero knowledge about BJJ what so ever. Anyone who knows a little bit about BJJ can tell you that Werdum is far above Nate Diaz.
