That's just DANA speculating. Nate hasn't said anything in interviews about hanging it up.
 
Huh ... I would be surprised ... But we all know how the Diaz' retire. They don't, really... Like Nick said he was done, then came back to fight Anderson.
 
Nah. He can get an even bigger payday in a rematch if Conor comes back strong and beats his next opponent.

Then again, this is a Diaz we are talking about. Those two are totally unpredictable.
 
Nate said in an interview after the fight that he'll be "done with the sport, done with everything" then 4 months later get bored and want to fight. Is normal
 
Pretty sure Dana was just joking. Nate has finally broke through and should get some big money fights he has been clamoring for. Might as well strike while the iron is hot.
 
Neither Diaz brother ever said they like fighting, they probably just want to make enough money and get out and blow their wad on bicycles, weed and nunchucks

It was just a joke he was being sarcastic. Dana white, did not mean to be taken literally.
 
If it was any fighter but Nate, I call bullshit. But, Nate (like Nick) are not UFC bootlicks and will not be coerced to stay fighting if they don't want to.

If Nate chooses retirement or a long layoff... good for him, he's earned it.

but if you check nate diaz interviews after the fight he keeps saying that its time to get busy time to get the big fights and big money
 
Only a ploy by Nate Diaz to get Zuffa to cough up more cash. That's the best way to get money out of Zuffa. Just threaten retirement and if you're of value and u move the needle. They will keep offering u more and more to come out to fight. There is a reason why Nick fights even though he has lost 3 in a row. It doesn't matter. He moves the needle. He gets offered big money to fight. If Chuck Liddell wasn't getting KO'd back to back to back. Even if he were losing Dana would still have kept him a while. It just got to a point where Chucks health became a factor and for Danas own conscious couldn't milk the cow anymore.
 
Dana was joking haha he said all that stuff whilst laughing. Nate will be back because now he's a bigger draw than he ever has been so he'll be in for a good payday again and he deserves it. Moral of the story - Don't listen to Aussie coverage of MMA they get so much shit wrong and to be honest don't really have much idea...before Mcgregor it was hardly covered in mainstream Aussie media because not many people cared
