So many people, in particular Americans are completely ignorant to their actual health/weight.

I had a buddy of mine maybe 5"11-6 foot. He weighed about 285 pounds and wanted to lose weight. He swore he didnt want to get below 240 because he would be "too skinny and defenseless". I acctually told him for his bone structure (Large) and his musculature (he doesnt work out) that he probably would need to get down to the 190-180 range to be considered thin and in shape (like he wanted). He thought i was crazy. He now has lost 65 pounds and weighs 220 and he still has a huge belly and looks fat.

I realize im fighting an up hill battle with Americans who 1/3rd of the population are obese and also statistics show that men believe they look most attractive on average 30 pounds heavier than what most woman found the most sexy.

Here is an ideal weight chart for men:
http://www.healthdiscovery.net/links/calculators/ideal_bw_men.htm did i just burst a lot of bubbles out there for you guys? Sorry.

In a pro wrestling and NFL football world of I weigh 265 pounds and have 6% body fat you realize that most of these guys if thats true are on steroids (and many are clearly carrying a lot of extra fat) For example: a 5"8 man who is a natural body builder (no steroids) with a medium sized frame (the ideal frame for body building) can expect to be no larger than 155 pounds lean body mass at his MAX genetic potential (on average for the vast majority of people, and the genetic freaks wont be that far from this number either) So if he weighs 162 he would be 4% body fat and believe it or not he would look abosolutely huge at that weight. Add 6 pounds for every inch of height.

Anyway, lets get down to business. Nate Diaz clearly falls in the SMALL frame catagory and is 6 feet tall with not much muscle mass. If he wanted to he could make weight at 145 as seen in the weight chart (or any weight chart you can find anywhere because this is medical science fact) that i posted above.

Nate's "ideal body weight" is 149-160 especially at his musculature which isnt much at all. He could easily get down physically naturally and just by dieting and exercise to 155 and cut to 145 for the fight (and honostly he could get down to 149 and still be considered at a healthy weight. It is possible he could go skinnier but that would be considered "under weight")

I know im going to get a lot of heat from people who simply cant believe what im posting. Fact is do your research. We as Americans are the most physically unhealthy in the world and many of us dont even realize it. Do your research.

Nate Diaz could easily make 145.

My credentials: 8 years natural body builder. Know many people in the body building game both clean and dirty. I have become an expert at nutrition and my body over that time. Dont look at the numbers i posted above and think you need to get on steroids to look good. You can be a head turner even after 8 months of clean working out and look amazing. Get in the gym bro.

BTW I love the "walk around" weight everyone on the forum mentions. Thats cute. Rosie Odonnells walk around weight is 300 pounds. I dont care what a fighters out of shape hamburger and fries weight is.

I don't doubt he could make weight it's just a question of how he would perform.

He's always complained that cutting to 155 is very hard for him and not worth the money. Cool story about your friend, but you have no proof Nate could "easily" make 145. You're not a doctor

Interesting info. He's said before though that making 155 is very tough, hard to imagine him dropping another 10 without losing a lot of muscle/strength.

He would have to have some extreme discipline and dieting to be able to do that. I do agree though...... not because of anything you say, but I believe it's possible. The thing is, Nate doesn't like going to 155, so I doubt 145 will interest him at all.

I think it's about quality of life. There's probably a lot of coulds when it comes to bodyweight, but the degree of suffering and sacrifice wouldn't be worth it unless you are extremely extremely motivated.

So Nate Diaz could be a champion and have a belt but he just decides not to. Your infallible proof makes me wonder, why does Nate decide to be a gatekeeper at 155 and a rag doll at 170? Maybe you should tell him your profound findings!!!

He might have a small frame but it's not like he doesn't have a lot of muscle. He's a pro athlete. He's probably a lot thicker in person than you would think. Maybe he could do it, but I don't think it would be easy.

That would more effort than it takes Nate to make 155- a weight that he has already expressed great begrudge making.

The Diaz boys aren't known for doing more than what they feel they have to.

kind of moot bc we were told over and over again (supported by other sherdog experts) that conor cant make 145 anymore - i guess they lived w him and knew more details than the rest of us do

Have you seen him at the weigh ins when cutting to 55? His face looks almost as bad as Conor's when he cuts to 45.

I'm sure there are some truths to what you wrote but what does that have to do with optimum fight shape? Don't you think professional fighters have a better idea of what's the best weight for them? Even if Nate gets close to 145 does that mean he would perform to hi potential? I highly doubt that. I would never listen to a body builder if he's trying to tell me how to fight and prepare for a fight.

I keep thinking "Notorious" Nate has cut down to 145 before...correct me if I'm wrong. Can't recall who it was against, or the outcome of the fight, but I certainly recall him shrinking to 145 at least once.

Again, please correct me, if I'm wrong.

Nate at 170 is carrying around very little fat and not a whole lot of muscle

Nate at 155 is super lean with nothing to spare.

Nate at 145 was probably be unhealthy

Didn't Nate miss weight once at 155?
