It's no secret that Nate Diaz was brought in to lose to Conor at UFC 196. No-one gave him much of a chance outside of a few Diaz fans. Fans / Conor and UFC all were already talking about Conor's next fight and his attempt at winning belts in two weight classes ( which he later did ) .

But Nate Diaz shocked the world ( but not himself ) when he beat Conor Mcgregor in the second round via submission. They rematch directly afterwards in an amazing back and forth battle. The fight could have went either way but the Judges gave it to Conor. No robbery here, just a very close fight.

Present day :

Dana White confirming rumors of a Nate Diaz vs. GSP fight at 155 lbs. Similar threads and topics start being created claiming the fight a miss-match and Nate has next to zero chance. While the odds should certainly heavily favor GSP, lets not forget GSP has never fought at 155 lbs and Nate has many times. Who knows how the weight cut will play into GSP performance. Nate has a chance to carve his own little nitche in history if he can somehow get a win over Conor and GSP. Nate Diaz would become a great underdog story.

That's what made this so much sweeter...

War Cabo Nate..

The hilarious part, is that people said Conor was the underdog after the fight, when Cabo Diaz only had 10 days to train compared to full training camp Conor...The odds had Diaz as the the underdog.

The UFC Hype machine is always ready with the excuses.

Shut up lol he beat a Featherweight striker. Let me know when he beats a high level grappler.

6’1” top Lw being an underdog to a 5’8.5” featherweight shouldn’t be a glorified story

To top it off, Conor is 1-1 with Nate Diaz (extremely overrated, good but crazy overrated due to the Conor win)

Conor was no longer a FW at that point.

Conor size advantage vs. most of his opponents >>> then the size advantage Diaz had on Conor.

I don't think he's overrated. Most people realize he's a career journeyman fighter.

Nate at 155 is a monster, but i don't think he'll be able to keep gsp off him

95% chance TS might have a nate diaz poster in his bedroom

Nate's size advantage over most of his opponents is even greater. At least Mcgregor never lost to any smaller fighters (unless you count Mayweather). If Nate Beat Rory rather than getting taken to slam city that would have been impressive but beating a smaller dude that isn't known for wrestling or leg kicks... Perfect matchup for Nate.

Lol that’s such a joke, Conor was over -400 or 4 to 1 favorite on some sites.

The rematch even had Conor as a slight betting favorite around -135

Diaz son’d him

I don't think he can either. But it would be an amazing feat for Nate to get a win over GSP.

Not at all .. I don't have posters of anything .... I am a much bigger GSP fan then Nate Diaz. But I can't deny that it would be an amazing feat and a great underdog story if Nate Diaz can defeat both Conor and GSP.

Nate is a win one lose one fighter. Most know this, which is why it was such a great win when he beat Conor. Nate went from the couch to the cage and still got the win when the majority already were talking about who will Conor face next. Now he is rumored to be facing GSP in the same underdog scenario. ... Hence my underdog topic ...

How so ....

Isn't Nate a win one / lose one fighter ?

Was Nate not an underdog against Conor ?

Is he not a huge underdog vs GSP ?

Not many gave / gives him a chance vs. either.

Beating two guys that won titles in two divisions would be a great underdog story.

There have been bigger underdogs with bigger achievements. Nate would have a bigger legacy if he'd ever LEARN to CHECK kicks...

There sure is bigger underdog stories, just like smaller ones exist.

Nate Diaz will carve himself a nice niche in history if he manages to beat two dual UFC champions that next to no-one gave him a chance in beating.

It's not the same scenario though lol, GSP is a stylistic nightmare for Nate, Mcgregor wasn't. The only reason it's a big deal is because Conor is a star. Nate took it on short notice but his last 2 fights were against southpaws and his last fight before Conor was a southpaw boxer that is the same size as Mcgregor.
